2013 Single Biggest Need?

Safety.

Even this year we pass well with all of the injuries. We have to get better at stopping the pass.

YR

I don't think this is wise.

You can't pray for your QB to stay healthy when he's battered every week.

Dallas is fortunate Romo hasn't been concussed a few times.

Defending the pass will mean nothing if Romo goes down.

I agree with this. Give Romo a fighting chance for once, please!

i still think that costa or kowalski will be the centers next year. if we draft a center he will be a project that can maybe start in 2014. jones does not value the center position like some us do.

Interesting choices, but the scenario given says that TRat, Spencer, and Sensy are still on the team while Free is gone.

The obvious choice should be RT to replace Free, although my feeling is OT, NT or S in the first regardless of need.

Get a quality RT who also has the ability/versatility to play OG.

Center or Safety. Center outweighs Safety by a bit though. Two very intelligent leaders of men preferably. I'd be happy with either.

Id go RT also. Romo cant take another year of beatings at the hands of Doug Free. I think Costa will come back and shore up the center position next season.

Followed by a wide body NT and a ball hawking FS.

Removing the starting RT Free from the roster should make this a no-brainer as to which starting position to add. Parnell is serviceable there but another OT is needed for sure ahead of any other position on the team, preferably someone better than Parnell (or Free for that matter.)

Yeah it should be, alot are just saying what our biggest needs are though.

The team won't release Free unless we have picked up an OT in the draft or free agency, so the original question might be mute anyway.

I agree that those are the guys the ones that won't be there at training camp.

I think it comes down to how Parnell does the next two games. If it looks like he can start competently (and by that I mean a little below average for a starter but not atrocious like Free has been sometimes), then I say Safety. But if it looks like he can't hold up, you have no CHOICE but to go RT...there's no one on the team that can play the position.

I say safety over the other positions because I think safety is the one upgrade that will enhance the ability for us to utilize other players to their strengths.

I think Livings has been good, Costa's ability as an in-line run blocker I think will help alleviate some of Bernadeau's deficiencies (also, bernadeua is still young and can improve himself, and there's a decent chance that Arkin or Leary could step up next year). But I think when you look at the offense, you have a quarterback and a running back that are able to overcome deficiencies in the oline because of their skill set, and that's why it's less of a priority to make major upgrades there.

I think we have a great NT in ratliff (he's been great this when he hasn't been injured, no reason to think these injuries will continue next year, he's never had an injury problem before), and we can sub in lissemore to back him up.

In terms of 3-4 DE, Hatcher has been playing at a very high level, I think Crawford has potential, and then Spears is competent to sub in.

But adding a true free safety would be huge. We're playing sensebaugh out of position (he's best in man coverage on tight ends or in the box, not in deep zones), we're playing carr outside his skillset (press coverage) because we don't have faith in our safety play.

I don't think adding a 3-4 DE, NT, RT, OG, OC, will help IMPROVE the individual play of other players by allowing them to focus on what they're best at.

I was just getting ready to type his name. Use wherever needed most--C,G,T. An offensive coach's dream player, I think.

Well I'm glad to see so many people recognize how much a safety could help this team, thought I was all alone in the thought for a while.

A safety just plain completes our D, cause replacing TRat with a NT is more a lateral move really with TRat is still playing at a high level. We have always found DL later in the draft that contribute, I'm not as worried about it to be honest.

High in my thoughts are OT and safety. With Free's contract, I don't think we can afford to pay another tackle in free agency, rather get a young guy in the draft. Going into the draft I don't like to zone in on positions, but in the first round if we want the most bang for our buck, safety and OT should be at the very top of the list along with some highly graded player who drops.

If it has to be one give me an OC\OG type or RT\OG depending on whom the team sees as bigger liability....Costa or Free.

Can y'all just stop talking bout needs and what too do on 2013 and worry bout this team this year? Lol Damn SMH

Its a message board, it survives on discussion of topics, we can talk about it cause its not like it makes a difference to the team at all. Besides, we are talking about something that the FO is talking about throughout the season, so why not.

If Stephen isn't considering this subject on a daily basis, then even his own dad should fire him.

Scenario:
All of the players on the current roster including IR, PS, etc., return for training camp, except the following:
Doug Free
Mike Jenkins
Felix Jones
Kevin Ogletree
Josh Brent
Dan Connor

You can add 1 starting caliber player to the roster. What position would it be? Be specific OG, OC, OT, RB, Safety, OLB, etc..
Safety

Which is more pressing depends on who is epically failing from play to play.
