The course has been delivering an epic beat-down.

Rory... Tiger... Bubba... All feeling the wrath.

Phil's hangin tough.

Sunday should be a heck of a day with several at or near the top.

why a 4 wood off the tee at 18 Phil? Why?

Because he's smart (some of the time)... I heard an announcer say that at least in the first round, he didn't even have a driver in his bag...

A course like Merion would cause me to give my 2-wood a real workout... I'd give up 15-20 yards off the tee, but I'd be in the short grass a lot more often... Merion isn't that long anyway...

Well leaving himself 275 yard approach was stupid and it cost him. Now he has just choked with a bogey on the easiest par 3 in fifty years from 120 and another bogey from a120 yard approach. Phil being Phil in the US Open. And follows it up with a nice shot. Lol Phil being Phil

Yeah, Phil was Phil...

Justin Rose seems like a good guy... Deserves the win.

Best part was Eldrick being nowhere to be found on the last day. Just like EldrickFan has made no posts in this thread.

He had a hard day lot of guys did on this course. I like Phil as well and was hoping he would have been able to win. Would have liked to seen Ricky Fowler do better.

I respect great players and Tiger is that regardless of you pettiness towards him you act as if Tiger cheated on you. :laugh2:

As is with most US Opens you are in big trouble if you are not hitting the fairway, those roughs are thick and very hard to get the ball up and out of there.

Not only that, the USGA has this cute little habit of narrowing down the fairways to approximately the width of your average everyday bowling alley...

Chuffed for Justin Rose, seems like a really nice guy and appears very level headed.

The question was asked in the commentary over here whether Tiger & Rory have ever played really well when playing in the same group, and no-one could really remember that they have.

Was quite funny on Saturday to see the pair of them being outscored by Fernandez-Castano.

Must be the first time for a while that none of the current major title holders isn't from the US.

Also saw an article today that since the year 2000, there have been more overseas winners of the US Open that home grown players, whereas between 1926 & 2000 there were only 5 overseas winners.

I guess there are a number of reasons, but I guess the fact that golf is more widely played is one of them, and the fact that it is now easier for overseas players to qualify.

Anyway, now looking forward to Muirfield and hopefully some typical blustery Scottish weather :)

Yep, it is the US open and to win it requires a lot out of the players.

Not sure if they will do it this year but they have had the event called the week after the US Open were scratch golfers go out to that course still in tournament condition and they challenge them to break 100, few do it. It is that hard.

I hated Eldrick long before shine came off his luster. I always knew the image he portrayed was a fraud.

True however Webb Simpson of the US won it last year. No doubt US has struggled in recent years in terms of the majors.
