Rory McIlroy handled business today, although it wasn't as easy as some thought it would be heading into the round. I thought this was actually pretty impressive today and a sign of maturity for him. He won going away in his first two major wins. Today he had to grind it out all day, with his lead down to two shots at times on the back nine. I'm not sure he could have done that a couple of years ago. It could have gotten away from after #5 and #6 but he didn't let it.

He's moving into some pretty rarified air at a really young age for a golfer. He was already only the fourth pro of the modern era to log two major wins before his 25th birthday (with Jack, Tiger and Seve). Now he's only the third to hit three by age 25 (with Jack and Tiger). And he's on a pretty short and elite list of golfers to be 3/4 of the way to a career Grand Slam.

It was nice to see Sergio make a run...best i've seen him at a major in quite awhile.

What was interesting to me was that on this day, Rory won this tournament, while Caroline also won a WTA event. Both on the same day.

Yeah a wire to wire win on the PGA tour is impressive. You just don't see that very often. When Rory gets on a streak I don't know anybody that can play with him. That said, I won't mention him with the Tigers, the Phils, and the Scotts of the world until he plays better at Augusta. His best finish at the Masters is 15th and I don't know if you can be called one of the greatest until you've won the greatest.

He's sure got the game that matches that course. Now he's just got to do it. It may not be easier now that every other question for the weeks leading up to every single Masters until he wins it will involve the career slam, the course, the pressure, etc, etc.
