This is why I don't understand fans who get upset with a player for taking advantage of free agency to get the best contract they can. The average career for NFL players is very short, and even with the better players who last longer, their careers and ability to earn money can change quickly. Obviously I get the idea of players giving a bit of a home team discount, but they can't afford to leave big dollars and guaranteed money on the table. Once the NFL career is over, very few will ever have the ability to earn anything remotely in the neighborhood of what they made as players again.

On average it's like 3.5 years long. We were lucky to get 8 out of Romo with all his broken bones. Dez too. Never the same after his broken foot. It makes what Witten accomplished even more remarkable

Yeah players like Witten, Emmitt, and even Tom Brady are very fortunate.
Others as well, even Big Ben is Pittsburgh for all the injuries he had gone through is fortunate to still be playing.

Makes Witten's accomplishments even more amazing doesn't it. Fans on here talk about Romo going to the HOF, a few things will keep him out including only 8 years in the league. Witt is a shoe in and Emmitt is my favorite all time Cowboy.
