It's too early to be worrying about the Draft. First things first- we have to compile a list of players we are in jeopardy of losing to free agency. Best way to do this is to put up a starting roster, highlight the threats, talk about how we deal with it (or if we can), THEN try to formulate a draft strategy around it.

3.5 M cap space for this season.

O
WR- Bryant*, Williams, Beasley*, Harris*, Street
TE- Witten, Escobar, Hanna
T- Smith, Free*, Parnell*, Hills*, Weems*
G- Martin, Leary*, Bernardeau
C- Frederick, Bernardeau
QB- Romo, Weeden, Vaughan
RB- Murray*, Dunbar*, Randle
FB- Clutts*

D
DE- T. Crawford, Mincey, Selvie*, Spencer*, J. Crawford, Edwards
DT- Hayden*, Melton, Crawford, McClain, Coleman, Brent
OLB- Carter*, Durant*, Wilber, Lawrence*, Smith
MLB- R. McClain*, Hitchens
CB- Carr, Scandrick, Moore*, Patmon
FS- Church, Spillman*
SS- Wilcox, Heath, Hamilton

K
P- Jones*
K- Bailey
H- Jones, Romo
KR- Harris, Dunbar, Beasley
PR- Harris, Beasley
LS- Ladoceur

*= 2015 FA

Contracts expiring gives us 52,583,000 back in cap space, plus the 3.5 we already had for a 56M cap heading into the 2015 season. Here's how I view the priorities for 2015.

Gotta Keep
Bryant- 13M, 10M guaranteed on a 4 year contract.
Murray- 4M, 2.5 guaranteed on a 3 year contract.
Carter- 5M, 3 guaranteed on a 3 year contract.

Keep, but renegotiate.
Harris- 1.7M, 5.5K guaranteed on a 2 year contract.
Free- He's getting up there in years. 1 Year, 2.4M guaranteed, start grooming Parnell.
Parnell- 4M, 1M guaranteed, 2 year contract.
Bernardeau- 2.5M, 1M guaranteed if he can beat out Free or Parnell for a starting spot on the OL.
C. Lawrence- 4M, 3M guaranteed for 4 years, groom him to replace Durant.
Chris Jones- 3M, guarantee 1m for next 4 years.

This brings us to about 35M spent in cap space, leaving us about 14M left over.

Drop em
Rolando McClain-Another old dog. find us a LB in the draft, FFS. He's good, but he just isn't gonna last.
Clutts- Hate to do it, guy's a prototypical FB, but you'll see later why.
Hayden- Brent is gonna have to work his *** off in the offseason to fill for him.
Dunbar- He's a great runner, but Randle could be the future and I think he kinda got shortchanged this season in terms of carries. Groom him behind Murray.

Positional changes
Escobar > FB/TE. Big dude, good hands, gotta find a way to get him on the field a little bit more. No better way than having him do double duty.

Draft Prospects
Ellis McCarthy DT
Kevin Johnson CB
Markus Golden OLB/DE
Trey Depriest MLB
Corey Robinson OT

And... that's what I've got so far. Any ideas guys?

We might have to look deeper in the draft and do some restructures. Possible resign Melton to a realstic contract he can play on our favor. As I think his injuries derail him.

I wouldn't drop Ro Mcclain. But I wouldnt be giving him a big contract either. He can stay, if he wants though.

If he can ever stay healthy, much like Sean lee, then he is a really good addition to any team.

That's what I'm thinking though. The older you get, the less likely you are to withstand NFL punishment, even if you are the one dealing it out.

RFA
Beasley, Dunbar and Leary will all be back

Post June cut
CB Brandon Carr

Key resignings
WR Dez Bryant
LB Justin Durant
OT Jeremy Parnell

FA signings
SDE Pernell Mcphee
1DT Nick Fairley

Rd 1- WDE Markus Golden
Rd 2- SLB Benardrick McKinney
Rd 3- SDE Preston Smith
Rd 4- CB Ladarius Gunter
Rd 5- RT Rob Havenstein
Rd 7- RB Storm Woods
Rd 7- WR Vince Mayle

Defense

WDE-Lawrence-Golden-Mincey
SDE-McPhee-Smith
DTs-Fairley-Brent-McClain-Crawford-Bishop

LBs-Lee-McKinney-Hitchens-Durant -Lawrence ST

CB's-Scandrick-Mo-Moore-Patmon-Gunter

S's-Church-Wilcox-Heath-Spillman

With this approach we only break the bank with Dez.

I would love Mercilus on this squad as a WDE lined up on the opposite end of McPhee, but realistically I know the trade couldn't happen.

You don't think they've already offered dez something like that? 0.o

Yeah there's no way dez or murray will sign for that little. It would be insulting to even offer that contract. Megatron signed an 8 year contract for $130 million (53 guaranteed) and you're going to offer Dez 13 million over 4 years? No way.

Additionally, Rolando McClain is 25 years old. How does that make him an "old dog"?

Edit: do want to say thanks for the thought you put into it. I like when people give their thoughts about the offseason, especially when most feedback will be critical
