It seems almost a universal consensus that this draft class is so good we hit it out of the park on every pick. In many prior years the Cowboys were criticized on almost every pick.

The hits from 2016 seem to have given everyone an optimism that I haven't seen here since I have been a member of this board. In prior years it seemed as though the pessimism ran so rampant that guys assumed that none of our draft picks would ever pan out.

Take our third round pick for instance ....he has a legal cloud hanging over his head. If this selection had been made last year Jerry would have been vilified over the pick much like the Jaylon pick last year. It's funny how confirmation bias taints one's perception.

Last years draft may have well been the best in 20 years, but that has yet to be proven just yet. It must continue to pay dividends and stand the test of time.

This years draft class has so much optimism surrounding it I am not sure I am on the right website. Lol. It is not realistic to believe we hit it out of the park twice in a row. Not likely to happen, but if we did I see several Super Bowls on the horizon.

It's because this year's draft was so logical that even if the players don't pan out, any idiot can see why we played it the way we did. Sometimes the process is good and it still doesn't work out. I happen to think that when the process is good you will come out ahead more often than not.

Impossible to know whether the Cowboys "hit it out of the park on every pick" or whether this will end up being a terrible draft.

Only way to know for sure is to look back in 3-4 years.

Let's start with the obligational 2nd Rd TE pick that didn't happen......thats a grade higher alone

Then, we finally decided to throw picks at the D.....another grade higher

Then, by golly....we didn't use a high pick o QB, RB, MLB or OL.... That's like hitting it out of the park grade

Drafted exactly what we need.... If it fails, at least we tried for once

The optimism is a refreshing change and the draft and preseason should be a hopeful time. Regarding this draft...time will surely tell. In recent years, on the Networks, there is so much hype and positive spin on the players chosen in the first couple rounds...it is hard to imagine what their careers will turn out to be. At this point in time it seems they are ALL heading straight to the HoF...never mind playing in the NFL first. :).

the optimism is likely because we actually drafted players for positions that we really needed and got quality players. No random tight end taken, super project corner from a school we never heard of, or someone who likely won't play this year.

Confidence is bred by success. I think the personnel office is feeling its oats from past years, especially last year, and they just stood pat and worked the plan.

I don't follow the NCAA very closely, so I rely on the members of this board to let me know who we should be excited about. For the most part, especially the defensive back picks, there was a general consensus that they were all really good players.

Only thing I can do is look at their highlights from last year and man... some exciting plays from all of them. Even Beasley 2.0 looks like an instant upgrade to the deadweight on the roster

This was a very logical draft. That is something that has been missing since Jerry took over the team. Bobbie
Carpenter - really?

I don't have any idea how these players will turn out but in a draft that was regarded as one of the best DB drafts in recent memory. We took the biggest bite out of the meat of this draft.

The Cowboys went 13-3 last season and we were all shocked at how good Dak and Zeke can/will be.

The Fail against GB in the playoffs was blamed on the defense.

So we let a lot of those guys walk and replaced them with fresh young talent from the draft; picking players that most everyone knew and liked and graded out pretty well at where they were picked.

So yeah. People are pretty happy atm.
