Do people on this board understand this is just entertainment content?

I don't see the fault in it. there's no one above him that an argument can't be made for, and he was definitely not the sole reason we went 12-4 or the only loss leading to 4-12.

also re: espn/entertainment... it's a consensus/aggregate rating of 40 something executives and coaches, not sure how much more valid you can get.

ESPN, so it doesn't matter.
The results are from a survey of "42 league insiders -- 10 general managers, five head coaches, seven offensive coordinators, five defensive coordinators, eight personnel evaluators and seven other position coaches/executives", not ESPN talking heads. Why does it not matter? I think Romo should be in the 5-8 range instead of 11, but I wouldn't say that the results are invalid just because I disagree with them.

Big Ben in tier 1 huh? Ok...

The definition of tier 1 is exactly what Romo is for this team.

3-1 a year ago with him and 1-11 without him.

He's won 15 out of his last 19 games. Come on. (not including playoffs)

I agree with the Tier 2 label, however, I disagree with the 11th ranking. I don't agree with guys like Palmer, Rivers, Luck (right now) and Eli being ranked ahead of him. Eli I can understand because he's won 2 SB and that seems to be an individual award nowadays. But what has Palmer, Rivers and Luck accomplished that Romo hasn't. To me, this is an indication of how while the perception of Romo is changing, there are still GM/Execs that are unwilling to let the Romo from 2006-2010 go.

Having said that I do agree with the belief Romo's greatest advantage is his greatest weakness in that he cant let plays go. He can at time compound mistakes that way. On the rare times Romo is off, he is really off. Also, I do take sanctification in yahoo's like Flacco, Ryan, and Stafford being ranked below him because at one point GM/Execs would rank them ahead of Romo. It was a shame to see Romo go down in 2015, but if he can rebound and turn in a 2014 year performance then, you'll see the perception really start changing (and more playoff success).

So, the Pats go 11-5 with Cassell as the backup QB when Brady goes down, and the Cowboys go 1-11 with Romo out and yet it's a measure about a QB carrying a team and not being able to win without him?

Makes sense.

I didn't say they were invalid because I disagreed with them. I said they were invalid because it came from ESPN.

Wake me when we know which insiders participated. Are they currently employed? Which teams? How were the votes tabulated? There's lots of different ways to paint different pictures when the participants are anonymous and the methodology isn't explained.

And at the end of the day, it's ESPN. They get the credibility their coverage has earned them. Speaking of which, did anybody watch First Take with Stephen A. Smith this week? It was amazing! Just kidding, it was unwatchable garbage of the sort that causes a bad network to bleed subscribers faster than they were leaving already.

As awful as he can be, strangely he is one of the more popular ESPN talking heads.

It's not really that strange, considering what's left of their audience. He does symbolize everything that went wrong with that network, though. It's a trainwreck over there.

Not that it matters that much, anyway. The NFL has been heading towards handing their own content distribution for years now, anyway. The days of ESPN were numbered before they started shooting themselves in both feet every weekend.

I think you are right. They are trying to build their brand back with all the college conference deals I guess.
