Free Agency:
1) Jamie Collins, LB, Patriots (Age 26, 6-3, 250) - He's going to be expensive but he's an ultra-athletic freak who can play all 3 LB spots, rush the passer, and covers like a safety. Sign him and move on from Rolando McClain once and for all.
2) Micah Hyde, S/CB, Packers (Age 25, 6-0, 197) - He's a poor man's Honey Badger. Green Bay doesn't overpay their free agents and had loaded up on DB's in the draft. Hyde can play all four secondary spots and return punts.
3) William Gholston, DE, Buccaneers (Age 25, 6-6, 281) - Put him at the anchor position (LDE) and put Lawrence at RDE. Gholston slides inside on passing downs with Gregory (assuming he's active) coming in.
Draft:
1) Marlon Humphrey, CB, Alabama (6-1, 198) - A draft eligible sophomore, Humphrey is an elite athlete with Olympic speed. He will get lumped in with some past Alabama CB's who didn't pan out, but none of those guys had Humphrey's physical tools.
2) Kyzir White, S, West Virginia (6-3, 215) - Another SPARQ guy, he's the younger brother of Bears WR and former Mountaineer Kevin. When I watch Kyzir play, I see a faster Kam Chancellor.
Let underachievers like McClain, Wilber, Church, Wilcox, Carr, and J.Crawford go and inject these five players into a unit that desperately needs athleticism and talent. Guys like Sean Lee, Byron Jones, Orlando Scandrick, Demarcus Lawrence, David Irving, and hopefully both Randy Gregory and Jaylon Smith would be part of a very good-to-great defensive unit.
