2018 redraft

Should have traded Dak for 2 1sts then and drafted Lamar.

LVE wasn't a bad pick. He looked really good as a rookie. Probably not wise to use a first round pick on a player with an injury though. But I recall reading about his neck injury and a lot of insiders were saying it was overblown.

2018 was not a bad draft overall. Besides LVE, they got Connor Williams who I think made the pro-bowl for the Dolphins after leaving Dallas. Of course he played Center there.

Gallups was a good WR until he got hurt. He was a 3rd round pick. In the 4th they took Dalton Schultz and Dorance Armstrong, but solid players still contributing in the NFL. On day 3 they got Cedrick Wilson who as a good 3rd or 4th WR for a while, and not a bad passer on some of those trick plays.

He was injury prone his entire college career. Terrible pick.

LVE, Connor Williams, Gallup, Schultz, and Armstrong were all at least average NFL starters. Hitting on two starters is decent. Hitting on five is nuts.

I know, there's not really a stud player out of that bunch. And it feels like it could have been more after LVE's rookie year where he looked like the second coming of Brian Urlacher. But we objectively did very well.

Weird to do redrafts 8 years later to determine who would be steals today.

I doubt the first 3 teams that Baker and Darnold played for considered them steals as 1st and 3rd overall picks.

And I doubt either would have been considered #1 and #3 picks in a redraft prior to ‘23.

How can Allen at #7 not be the biggest steal?
I'd go with Lamar. #7 is too high to be available to everyone, but Lamar WAS available to everyone. Once the Cowboys start believing in putting fire under the QB competition, maybe they'll finally draft someone like that. One of the most underrated things about Jimmy and Aikman, was until that Super Bowl he was constantly threatening Aikman's job. Walsh, Beuerlein, Etc. And Troy was a #1 overall pick! Don't understand why Jerry doesn't do that more considering all his 'franchise qbs' have been late lucky finds.

It's easy to say now but I would have honestly considered taking Lamar. I was a big fan that year and thought he was going to be a steal in the 2nd. I'm a huge fan of the running quarterbacks that aren't just mobile but can gash the defense with 4-5 yards every couple plays and occasionally break a 20+ yard run. There are mobile QB's out there but not many that are true running threats. I thought Lamar had the best skillset for that since Vick.

Draft him, get him in the weight room and class room and teach him how to slide like a MLB leadoff hitter. Mid year two, or opener of 3rd year he starts.

I honestly didn’t see the bottom row on my device without clicking on the file.

Lamar was the better value. He also ended up in the right place.

The next guy taken was a 3-time all pro, but I guess you didn’t know Frederick’s career was almost over yet
The LVE pick sucked because we got 2 years out of him. Could’ve had DJ Moore or Rashaan Evans.
