The 2017 season was a forgettable one for Dak Prescott and the Dallas Cowboys.

After leading the Cowboys to a 13-3 record and an NFC East title in 2016 en route to being named the Offensive Rookie of the Year, Prescott backslid last year. His passing yards, completion percentage, touchdowns and passer rating were all lower, and after tossing just four interceptions in 2016, Prescott threw over three times as many picks (13).

As ESPN.com's Todd Archer reported, the Cowboys are installing an offense in 2018 that will play more to Prescott's strengths. He said, however, that things won't be all that different this year.

"I wouldn't say there's a big difference," Prescott said. "Every time you go into the offseason, there's new adds and there's new things you're going to do and there's going to be changes. Basically, the scheme things we're doing is not much different for the most part."

The changes schematically may not be a big deal, but there was a major personnel shake-up in the receiving corps. Dez Bryant and Jason Witten have been replaced by Allen Hurns, Deonte Thompson and rookie Michael Gallup.

It's that uncertainty among the pass-catchers (and the lack of a "go-to" guy) that would appear the biggest challenge for Prescott in the third year of his career.

Projected Passing Stats: 485 attempts, 304 completions, 3,472 yards, 22 touchdowns, 12 interceptions

Projected Rushing Stats: 57 attempts, 310 yards, 4 touchdowns

Lol. "Dak is back." With very mediocre numbers...bottom half of the league.

You guys now treat below average like All-Pro.

You do know we are a run first team don’t you?

Obviously if the QBs above Dak pass the ball more, they’ll have better numbers.

I’ll be thrilled with those numbers accompanied by 1600 Zeke yards, 15 touchdowns and a playoff team. He did his job. It’s not likely Aikman’s numbers ever set the world on fire.

Lol

Thanks for dumbing it down for the peanut gallery. I appreciate that.

Like I said. Below average like it's all-pro.

That's a passer rating in the 80's and you'd be thrilled. SMH.

Just to back this up, Troy threw 20 TDs once (23) in his career, and had 14 picks that year. No way can we compare Dak to Troy, but in this offense, Dak's value is not measured by numbers.

Dak may end up being more of a game manager bc of our scheme so his numbers may not be off the page...but as long as he keeps the w's coming it ok

The team keeps the w's coming. Team game.

If anything, his passer rating should be artificially higher as a game manager, not sitting in the 80's. That's bad.

If Troy played with the rules and passing game today he would be tossing 45+ TD’s a year.

We can disagree. That team simply didn't use the pass in that way. Aikman was possibly the most accurate passer ever, and in the right environment there is no doubt he could have thrown for gaudy numbers.

My point is that neither that 90s team nor the current Cowboy team is set up to accumulate crazy passing numbers.

26 TDs 12 INTs. I'll take it.

I will not take these stats and there is no reason for a guy who averaged 28.5 tds and only 8.5 ints in his first 2 years to regress to 26/12 in year 3. I see more like 27tds passing and 8 rushing and maybe 10 ints. So 35/10.

So when we get Ws it’s a team game when we lose it’s all Daks fault. Awesome

i can live with 22 passing and 4 rushing tds if the defense is winning games for a change but thats way too many picks for just 22 tds in his 3rd year
how about my guess instead
28 passing 6 rushing tds and 7 ints

there
i feel better

Dak was very efficient his 1st year and thats the Dak Dallas needs
