Hate to do it but I can't ever forget. The Cowboys passed on a 6'4 DK Metcalf (Pick 64) to take Trysten Hill (pick 58). No knock on Hill, he's a good player but DK was a no brainer. The NFL is a pass attack league. Obviously we added Ceedee because of this exact reason.... but DK is beastmode and was gifted to us!

I know, and WR is such a need for us and we have way too many good DT.

I know what your trying to do here.. but it doesn't matter... DT position is entirely overrated! No one runs the ball and good QB's throw the ball before any DLine can impact. Like I said... should have drafted DK Metcalf and I'll bring this back up over the next ten years as you remind me that we needed a Defensive Tackle who is rated 71 on Madden. lol

Dynamic DT's are worth their weight in gold.

However, those aren't plentiful.

Last year going into the draft they had just traded for Cooper the previous season, hence the no 1st rounder, Gallup was just drafted in the 3rd in the 2018 draft and they just signed Cobb.

While I'm not advocating Hill was the best pick, the WR spot wasn't an exact need at the time. Ideally, I still wish they went safety there.

This team just drafted CeeDee Lamb. We are loaded with talented young receivers. If CDL wasn't there this team would of taken Diggs more than likely.

I remember and we didn't have a first round pick technically because of a wideout. It might make any sense but Cowboys take a lot of pride in taking the BPA and DK by many scouts was the BPA when pick 58 came in the second round.

The rumor was that the Cowboys draft board had Connor McGovern as their top player they rated when pick 58 came up, over guys like Hill and Thornhill.

I don't recall too much chatter on Metcalf and the Cowboys but I admit I was checked out last year due to no first round pick.

We keep going back to the Hill pick, but things would be looking pretty bleak right now at DT without him.

We did not add CeeDee because we passed on Metcalf.

We took CeeDee because he was the best player on the board.

In today's NFL, no team should be afraid of drafting a WR every year.

A typical college team, especially a Power 5 team, has 3 to 4 good-to-elite WRs on their rosters. Every Front Office should have a really thought-out philosophy on sorting through these guys and identifying the guys who will contribute on the next level.

We will be watching Michael Gallup get a huge contract on the open market in less than 2 years. Should be already looking for the next guy (although I really hope we find a way to keep Gallup).

Alot of questions about Metcalf, so I doubt he was the consensus BPA. Im sure there are people that had him as BPA, but other probably had him lower.

He was viewed as alot of people as too much straight line athlete that might struggle to run a full route tree in the NFL.

Cooper can be let go in 2022 with "only" a $6 million dead cap. If he doesn't return to "elite" status by then the easy answer is cut Cooper and sign Gallup (if he continues to shine). Lamb is of course here for 3 years after this year, and from what we've seen so far, Gallup/Lamb/Wilson would be a pretty darn good set of receivers, though drafting another one in a year or two would be a good idea...

I wouldn't want Metcalf over Lamb cause if they drafted Metcalf you could say no way they draft Lamb.

I get Thornhill, Adderley or even Rapp over Hill but not Metcalf
