This is so unsettling in 2021, after the fireworks that went off for Lamb, Diggs and Gallimore, but Dallas is addressing defense deliberately. The phrase smug and stupid comes to mind as well, though.

Parsons... measurables, exceptionally good, 40 yard dash of a CB 4.39 with prototype LB size. Instincts, average, off the field, mild question mark. Tape is impressive, but show his room to grow when diagnosing plays. Production #32 with 109 tackles in 2019. #1 guy had 181 tackles, #48 guy had 103 that year. One year removed from football. Wrestler, hand fighting is good.

Above Average Floor and High Ceiling. Brought an extra pick in the 3rd round, Good value

Kelvin Joseph, measurables, prototypical CB at 6-1, 192. 40 yard dash exceptionally good at 4.34. Instincts and talent seem above average, and matches well against top talent. Coachability question marks. Off the the field, question mark, is he dedicated to football enough? Production is average with 4 picks and 1 PD in the past year, but against top talent, he shines. In 2020, the INT leader had 6, he was tied with many others who shared 4 picks.

Below Avg Floor, High Ceiling Good value pick.

Osa Odighizuwa Measurables, average for an Edge guy.. On tape, high motor, high effort, but one year removed from football. A single year of production to base a draft choice off of.

Average Floor, Above Average Ceiling. Questionable value pick .

Chauncey Golston, Measurables, Above average height for an Edge guy. On tape, high motor, another wrestler with hand fighting moves. Played 8 games in 2020, had a pick.

Average Floor, Above Average Ceiling. Moderate value pick.

Nahshon Wright. Measurables are exceptional for a height of 6'4" . 40 time is average, production is average. Competition he faced is questionable. Must have been picked for potential, not what he is right now. Tape is baffling, he's not even the star in his own highlights.

Below Average Floor, rare shot at a High Ceiling... maybe above average Ceiling? Far below expected value in the 3rd. So many others at all positions made more sense. This pick is overthinking things, imagining a player to fit expectations but ignoring all evidence to the contrary. Robinson last year was the same thing, probably better, but at least he wasn't in the 3rd. Haven't heard from Robinson, so they both can fight over who doesn't match up to unrealistic expectations.

Value at 99. Could not be worse. Bypassing other talent at the CB position, or any position is not helpful. Would have rather had a running back (Carter) or a QB (I'll think of somebody eventually) than a reach for CB here.

It's amazing how different 2020 was from the start of this year. 2021 doesn't crush hopes for the upcoming season, because Dallas added so many pieces on defense, the "something's going to stick" approach. Tempered optimism for the first 2 picks, and for the other 3, forced to trust that the coaches can inspire high production on the field from the likely average talent.

Very concerned for rounds 4 - 7, it feels as though Dallas has already entered free agency with their future choices with this pick at 99.
