2021 DC Free Agents

Below is the list of FA's for next year. Like most years, we'll resign some, not give others offers and some will just choose to leave anyway.

Who are you keeping and who are you saying goodbye to?

Tag Dak and extend long term. If I don't do that then forget the rest because we are going to be awful.

Keep all the ERFA guys:
Niswander, Carter, Wilson, Hyatt, Senat, Parker, Bernard. They cost next to nothing.
Offer AWoods a R2 tender. DT are HARD to come by and he's been our most consistent guy.

Aldon Smith depending upon cost. Hoping he wants to be here and considers that.
Jourdan Lewis. Back up slot and possible nickel safety, I'd go 4-5M AAV.
Garrett Gilbert. I'd like him as my number 2 provided he's cheap. See Vet minimum.
LP obviously.

Maybes:
Looney. Such a good team guy but also kinda a progress stopper with Biadasz. Still prolly worth 2M or so. Maybe 3 years 7M
Cam Erving. He's only 30 but I'm just not sure. 2.5M is about right for him but can he be counted on. I'd need to know he was in meetings and the locker room.
Noah Brown. He's been a tough blocker for us and shown he can also play a decent depth WR position but i can;t really do more than vet min here.
Chido: If cheap
Blake Bell:If cheap.

I got 9 out of that whole list...I know you guys will laugh but, if they don't keep the punter i'm going to be the most pissed.:laugh:

Fans be like Woods and Chido suck

Same fans-bring them back cheap
So I'm guilty of that. I don't think Chido sucks I think he's just been hurt.

Xavier Woods is the one who doesn't seem to be playing well. I liked him prior to this year......his footage at times has been bad. I like him for depth purposes but I've come to grips that putting my fandom to the side for him.........you can get that production from someone if not better.

I have a lot of respect for Sean Lee to the point if he wants to come back for a reduced role I'm for it. Either way....

I bring back......

Blake Bell, Wilson, Niswander, Dak, AWoods, Chido, Lewis, Aldon, Cam

Wilson is mine, I'm reading other evaluations from members here. He can catch punts, kickoffs and be a part time receiver. Three players wrapped up in one.

☆Dak
☆Joe Looney
☆Aldon Smith
☆Awuzie...good depth...doubt theres a line to sign him.
☆Lewis...good depth...doubt theres a line to sign him.
☆Goodwin...solid special teams
☆Bernard
☆A. Woods....good dt depth.
☆L.P.
☆Wilson
☆Noah Brown...has shown something...shouldnt cost too much to keep him.

i'd like a better back-up QB option than Dalton or Gilbert...if it gets too expensive i'd bring Gilbert back.
LB Joe Thomas..maybe.

Some fans on here will be very upset, when they find out about half of these players will return, probably more, at least for training camp.

they have 25 to 32 or so FA’s every year, and seems more than half return.

Would you rather Chido or a 1/2nd round cb or a FA cb thats been better than him?

Dak, CJ Goodwin, Garrett Gilbert, Niswander and tender Wilson and A Woods. If Aldon Smith want to re-sign for really cheap fine. If not bye, he’s honestly sucked for 8 weeks. The rest can kick cans.

Offseason is all about Dak. But after Dak Smith, Awuzie, Lewis, Goodwin, LP, Wilson, Brown, A. Woods, Thomas, Niswander, Looney and Bernard are all guys I would consider bringing back for the right price. However, with limited cap space most will be replaced by the 10 draft picks the Cowboys have and for the most part I'm ok with that.

If I were to prioritize:

1) Smith- Looked like a must retain earlier in the year but after hitting a wall not the priority he once was. However, with another offseason of conditioning it would be nice to have him as part of the rotation.
2) Awuzie or Lewis- Neither had very good contract years, but the system was an absolute mess. Both players are better than 2020 would suggest and would like 1 of the 2 back to compete with Diggs, Brown, Robinson, rookies, and Canady.
3) The restricted free agents- Niswander should be here to compete. Wilson flashed for 1 game and then disappeared. However, Ive seen enough flash and special teams contribution to extend a 1 year tender. Antuwan Woods keeps hanging around and as a rotational guy worth keeping. Bernard had a great camp but didn't get playing time.
4) The special teams aces- If LP wants to play he'll be back. Goodwin is an outstanding special teams player but it may be time for Robinson or a 2021 rookie to step up.
5) Looney- Solid stop gap starter or excellent depth. However, players like Williams, McGovern, or Biadsz may have to get a shot. If money allows I would bring him back but that 2.5 million may be needed elsewhere.
6) The rest- Thomas is a solid depth guy, Brown has started to show up and made some tough catches.

That’s why the whole sky is falling thing makes no sense. Hit on your picks and get your guys back healthy this is a 10-win team.
I agree. I'm concerned with Nolan's defense but I'm not of this belief we need to rebuild. Everyone is under contract and we have a bunch of draft picks. There's a reason to be optimistic about our future.
