And had like 2 TD's. The guy is supposed to have dominated in the NFL and its not even close. Got hurt this year and was having a down year. He has 100% been a disappointment from where he was drafted and what he was supposed to be. A guy like that should dominate on the GL and he hasnt. He is basically a WR.
At least you got the "basically a WR" part correct. And that's exactly what I wanted to draft him for if he fell to us. He put up a 1000 yards as a rookie and is on the verge of being dominant .

1000 yards means little if you cant get in the endzone. Hes a poor route runner and is ineffective down by the GL where he was supposed to dominate.

What is he on the verge of? Getting back from a knee injury he was out for the season with? The guy has 3 TD's in two seasons. 1 TD last year and 2 this year. 10 games played this year and he had 356 yards and 2 TDs? Thats bust status from where he was drafted. Then he got hurt.

3 TD's in 17 games. OUCH!!!

Now he could mature and lets see him with a good QB, but the guy has disappointed. From where he was drafted is been bad. I never liked the guy for Dallas and certainly didnt want him over Parsons. I was lobbying for Parsons while most wanted Pitts or another WR.

Pitts' rookie season was so impressive that he broke Hall of Famer Tony Gonzalez's mark for most yards by a tight end in franchise history. In fact, he was the first rookie tight end to record 1,000 receiving yards since Mike Ditka in 1961. Pitts finished the season with the most receiving yards by a Falcons rookie, with 1,026 yards, moving past Julio Jones for the most receiving yards for a rookie in Falcons history.

Knowing what we know today, which is the purpose of the hypothetical redraft, right? I think Parsons goes #1.

Had Burrow been in that draft, I think a QB needy team like Jacksonville pick him over Parsons.

He doesn't have much help in Atlanta. Wouldn't be the case here in Dallas. 1k yards from a rookie WR is very impressive. For a rookie TE, it's unheard of. We managed to bring in a vastly superior player, but Pitts has shown the ability to put together a very good career. Why trash the kid?

Did he break the all time TD record with 1?

Its impressive, but 1 TD isnt. And certainly 356 and 2 TD's in 10 games this year isnt impressive.

17 games and 3 TD's is almost criminal. This guy was supposed to redefine the TE position. It hasnt happened.

He's a WR to be honest. Under that guise, its even worse.

He was just a rookie and is on the verge of elite. No one said he was going to redefine the position. Everyone was saying he will be used more as a traditional WR.

Like I said, 1000 yards is good, but 1 TD is not. And if we think of him as a WR, which he really is, its not so impressive. Lamb had 935 yards his rookie year. Not a big deal.

And then the other part you keep avoiding. 356 yards and 2 TD's in 10 games THIS season. AGain, not impressive considering what he was supposed to be and where he was drafted.

Rookie year: Pitts had 110 targets. He was competing with Russell Gage, Calvin Ridley (for 5 games), Olamide Zaccheaus (possibly someone from Biblical times), and Tajae Sharp at WR. Cordarrelle Patterson and Mike Davis were 3rd and 4th on targets and receptions. That's like Dallas picking a receiving TE in the top 5 and pairing him with the dreadful receiving group that we had just before the Cooper trade. Pitts caught 68 of those targets, had 6 drops, and 5 picks resulted from those 110 targets. The QB passer rating when targeting Pitts was 76.6, which is the lowest among their top 10 passing options on the season.

This season his targets produced the second lowest passer rating of the top 10 receiving options (Patterson was much lower). Still hovering over a 5% drop percentage in the 10 games.

Looks like a player that was force-fed as a rookie due to draft status and poor options around him. Feels like a stretch to try to defend him as the #4 overall pick. I think I'd be happy with Pat Freiermuth, who was drafted 55th overall. As a rookie, he produced 60 catches on only 79 targets (played in one fewer game), had 7 TDs, had only 2 drops, produced a 121.1 rating on those targets (easily the highest by almost 30 points among top 10 receivers on the Steelers) and there wasn't a single pick when targeted. To date, Freiermuth has more receptions and TDs in his career. His catch percentage is far better (71.3% to 56.8%). Hard to quantify blocking without a lot more subjective stats, but I'd be willing to go out on a limb and bet that Pat has a better grade in that area than Kyle.

Considering the value that teams place on positions, no way am I drafting a TE at #4. Give me a pass rusher, left tackle, or, of course, QB. Second round, at pick #55, is a good value for a top TE pick. Waller was picked in the 6th. Kelce in the 3rd, as was Andrews. We all know where Goedert was picked. Kittle was a 5th. Hockenson was picked #8 overall and he's already been traded away once. Detroit clearly felt that a 5th year option and second contract was foolish. Kmet was a second rounder as was Ertz.

The Cowboys would have taken Sewell rather than Brown; Sewell went right after the Cowboys selected Brown. Offensive line and corners were the biggest needs going into the 2021 draft.

That is probably what would have happened had Micah not skipped the 2020 covid season at Penn St. Taking the year off and less film caused him to drop.
