2022 Opponents

But how often do they schedule the SAME opening night matchup two years in a row? Bucs/Cowboys in back to back years is less likely than a repeat of the 2012 opener (division game).
I think the fact we haven't seen it is simply because we don't see the opponent of the previous year's opening night banner championship team winning the Super Bowl the very next year. No other reason.

Maybe wouldn't be the best opening night draw but it would make the most sense to give the Cowboys Chicago or Detroit if we won the Super Bowl. Don't want to raise a banner only to lose the game you're playing in. Kind of how the NCAAF does a better job backloading the schedule for easy/hard than the NFL.

I wouldn’t mind Chicago or Detroit, maybe the Lions would be a better choice seeing as how they were competitive in many games despite losing most (although they did beat Arizona and Green Bay).
