..of course he will. Zeke is good guy and team player.
I don't see him leaving Dallas. He's home brewed to the Star. Same as Dak.
Dallas Top 6 salary cap hits for 2023:
Dak $49.13M
DLaw $26M
Martin $19.89M
Tyron Smith $17.6M
Zeke $16.7M
Gallup $14M
Serious moves to decide what to do with and interesting that 5 of 6 top cap hits in 2023 are on offense.
DLaw cap hits:
2023: $26M ($35M dead money)
2024: $16M ($9M dead money)
2025: $3M ($3M dead money)
Dallas has a problem in that DLaw counts a considerable amount for 2023 and restructuring is not a great idea with him being 31 years old next season and seeing him be more of a run defending DE than a pass rushing DE.
Think they keep him at his current 2023 cap hit? Giving him a 4th signing bonus after only the second year of the deal would be unprecedented cap mismanagement
Whether or not they restructure Dak will likely answer any questions if he'll be here another 3/5 years.
Dak has a $49M cap hit for 2023, the 2nd highest of any QB in the league...$3M more than Mahomes. Where is the bargain?
For the record, I wasn't even pulling a drive by on Dak.
I thought they spread it out already. No?
....and if he refuses they either are stuck with his salary at the risk of losing Pollard or they will eat $11.8M in dead money if traded ($5M cap savings) or $5.9M in both 2023 & 2024 if designated a post June 1st release candidate.
He should be asked to take a pay cut, but will Jerry do it?
LOL........so where were you the last 3 years when Dak was only counting like 23 million? You were telling us all he was getting elite money when he wasn't. The huge bargain was the last 2 or 3 years.
Where's the bargain, again?Dak is now a bargain
This doesn’t take into account the salary cap increase which I believe hasn’t been announced.https://www.si.com/nfl/2022/12/23/nfc-east-salary-cap-space-totals-2023-team-free-agents
Dallas Cowboys
What to know: The Cowboys are directly above the league average for 2022 cap space ($5,191,873). Their 2023 free agent class is pretty loaded, with the priority for resigning likely being Tony Pollard and Dalton Schultz—and maybe Cooper Rush, given the savior role he played when Dak Prescott was injured early in the season.
2022 cap space status: $5,384,699
2023 cap space status: $6,732,313
2023 free agents: Dalton Schultz, TE; Anthony Brown, CB; Dante Fowler Jr., DL; T.Y. Hilton, WR; Anthony Barr, LB; Leighton Vander Esch, LB; Jason Peters, LT; Trayvon Mullen, CB; C.J. Goodwin, CB; Johnathan Hankins, DL; James Washington, WR; Noah Brown, WR; Matt Overton, LS; Jake McQuaide, LS; Luke Gifford, LB; Carlos Watkins, DL; Cooper Rush, QB; Brett Maher, K; Connor McGovern, RG; Tony Pollard, RB; Terence Steele, LT; Rico Dowdle, RB; Donovan Wilson, S; Alec Lindstrom, C
Philadelphia Eagles
2022 cap space status: $5,823,911
2023 cap space status: $11,598,399
Washington Commanders
2022 cap space status: $6,739,687
2023 cap space status: $20,322,360
New York Giants
2022 cap space status: $3,134,707
2023 cap space status: $58,069,685
The question though is should Dallas restructure him or try and get what they can via trade and move on from him?
If they had a legitimate qb they wouldn't have the cap space they have.Expect JJ to restructure the likes of Dak, DLaw, and Zeke to create cap space by pushing bad contracts further down the road. If the Giants get themselves a legitimate QB they have the cap space to develop a much better team; Philly needs to decide of Hurts contract as they have already built a much better team; Washington is in a similar position as the NYG.
Nope. Their goal was to create cap space for the 2022 season at the expense of the 2023 season. Sadly the only options for Dallas is to let DLaw play at his $26M for 2023 or extend him to lower his '23 number at the expense of the future.
Where's the bargain, again?
Also, stop lying on me, I didn't say anything about Dak getting elite money...you making stuff up. I see you're in rare form today.
