You predicted a trade down for a third round pick?
I said that Guyton was their guy and that's who they would end up with. I don't like the pick especially when Barton was theirs to be had. I understand picking up the extra pick but oh well.

We turned Tyler from a penalty machine to an All-Pro, so I'm not counting Guyton out. The pick seems kind of similar, an unfinished product with all the measurables.
Tyler isn’t having to play tackle. Big difference

Cool. Another 1st round pick project who won't make an impact like Mazi was last season

Ownership hates the fanbase and don’t care about improving. Lesson in there

Pre-Draft Analysis

Guyton started only 14 games at tackle in college, so he is raw as a prospect. But the former tight end has the size, quickness, length and footspeed to develop into a starter early in his NFL career. He can mirror, recover, push speed rushers past the quarterback and hold his ground even though he sets high in pass pro. Guyton can also get into position and cover up defenders in the run game. -- Steve Muench

Matt Miller's pro comp: Lane Johnson :omg:

Tyler Guyton:
PROS
  • Great athlete
  • Huge frame with long arms- great for a T
  • Quick feet for pass protection
  • Lots of upside
CONS
  • Only started 14 games in college as a T
  • Will probably need some time to develop.
  • Not a plug and play guy
What a bust!

The trend these days is to go for traits.

There are no blue chippers left

I applaud this pick, because if you aren't going to trade up for a blue chipper (Arnold wasn't one...pure zone CB), Then the next best thing is to take a guy who COULD become elite.

Guyton was impressive at the SB.

I'd rather take a shot at a guy with AllPro potential, than a guy with a limited ceiling. I'd rather trade BACK than just take a safe, boring guy who's ceiling is "competent starter"...and Guyton could be the next Lane Johnson at RT (Lane Johnsons himself lobbied the Eaglea to draft him as his heir apparent(

I rip the urine-soaked senile liver spotted yellow toothed Jerruh as much as anyone....but this was a good pick.
