I don't think that is what Jerry meant by all-in.

But if the Cowboys wanted to trade up as far as they could just using this years draft picks, you are correct.

So if the Cowboys went "all-in" with this year's draft class (1265.4), the best pick they could acquire is 11 (1250) from the Vikings.
Still looking, but appears you are correct.
I believe the "all in" was the Zimmer hire, not trying to break your heart my friend.

Trade down to the bottom of the 1st round. They can pick up a late 3rd round pick.
However if they go to the top of the 2nd round for a trade. Maybe some team wants that 1st round pick, and over pays a little. Maybe with a high 3rd and a 4th or mid to low 2nd. Giving us 3 - 2nd round picks.

However, we know what happens with 2nd round picks here.
Probably better off with that 3rd and 4th from that stand point. Or take one of those 2nd round picks, trade down for more picks in the 3rd and 4th round.

@DFWJC did some research on this a couple years ago and showed traded rarely deviate much from the trade value chart

I think "all-in" usually refers to Free Agency, unless a team is trading away future 1st rounders for a QB....like the Rams did

I think 'all in' is just Jerry the salesman speak to pretend like we are doing something when in reality we are just basically running it back with a lame duck HC and giving an extension to Dak.

Probably better off with that 3rd and 4th from that stand point. Or take one of those 2nd round picks, trade down for more picks in the 3rd and 4th round.
so they take our 1st we get an extra second and some picks? What about their first next year, can't we take that from them? Doesn't even matter, I just want us to make some trades we have needs and we can help fill them with trades

so they take our 1st we get an extra second and some picks? What about their first next year, can't we take that from them? Doesn't even matter, I just want us to make some trades we have needs and we can help fill them with trades
If a team wants to trade up for a QB, sure why not a 2025 1st and a few picks in the 2024.

“All in” means whatever the person hearing the words or having the thoughts thinks it means

People got waaaay too invested in trying to set a course for the future based on what was more than likely just another one of Jerry’s throwaway lines.

I think that whomever made that draft value chart fell asleep before the Super Bowl ended. They have KC picking 31 and SF picking 32.. :lmao:

Fun little thought. I figured I'd share since I know I'm not going to remember to do it. Look back in three years and let's compare the player taken with the 11th pick to the combined players of our entire draft. How much of an impact does that 11th player picked have on the league vs. all the various guys Dallas gets. Doesn't serve much of a purpose except to get a look at how valid these point values are.

What are you trading Coog, what capital do we have that we are willing to trade, and for what gain?

I want us to trade our #1 pick down to the bottom the chiefs or someone, or into the early part of the first round. Get an early 3rd, hell move back a little with that 3rd and get that 4th back from Lance, that's about 4 players in the top 100, doesn't mean they'll be great, but it helps

What do I know about ARZ? Nothing. Maybe the Cardinals would laugh this off as silly.

But would I do this if I were Cowboys Draft Czar? Think so. Four picks inside the first 104 instead of three? Yeah.

I would call KC or SF and see if they would give a 3rd or their 4th to swap 24 for 31/32. Say 24 for 32 and 94 or even 131. Either way you lose points, but I think they would be better off in the long run. Here would be my plan.

1) Take highest rated QB left --- add actual competition to this position. At worse if you picked right, he is a tradable asset. Last pick of round one allows for the 5th year if you red shirt him for a year.
2) Take highest rated LB left -- he should be starting mid season. Cooper, Braswell (make him MParsons shadow), Wilson, Cedric Gray, Coulson -- one should still be on the board here.
3) Take highest rated DT -- TSweat or McKinley Jackson would be my preference at this point. Get him in the rotation. Need a guy who can allow Mazi to move to either 1T or 3T as needed.
3b or 4 from the trade) Take highest rated OL -- Wisconsin C, TCU guard, Arkansas C, several others. There is a starter here if they can develop. This is where you develop OL from. 3-4 round.
5) Take highest rated RB -- the one out of ND or Purdue would work here.
6) Highest rated WR, OT, or just someone with great upside, but needs development or played at a smaller school and while looks good, may not have played against real competition. 6th round is the swing for the fences round for me.
7) Get OL not strong enough, or LB's not quite fast enough but with great instincts, more DB's......this round is for pure development.

Get competition started at all positions. Stop treating the team as a dysfunctional family, and start treating it like a sports team with accountability, responsibility, and discipline.

I want to watch a winning team, not a well marketed one. Do not add another high draft OL- develop them, too much money in Martin, Smith ( if not now soon), and Steele already. Foster competition instead of coddling egos.

IMO, Once upon a long time ago, the Dallas Cowboys were a team. Now they are just a bunch of well paid individual entertainers who over value themselves and an owner more worried with the $$$'s than the winning. Can't blame the players, but can blame the owner and the culture cultivated.

I don't think that is what Jerry meant by all-in.

But if the Cowboys wanted to trade up as far as they could just using this years draft picks, you are correct.
I think he meant all in with our current roster and no additions.
