Big list. Not really much more than usual. But some big names.

Time to move on from some. Most likely they will bring back some core players as usual. And that may not be a bad thing. Need to have players regardless.

A lot may depend upon the HC as well. New or the same.

I have not looked at it enough to give any opinions yet on as who to keep or let all, or test the market.

This is why even the $100M in cap space argument doesnt give me much reason for optimism this year. Granted some are bigger in name than they were in performance in 2024 but overall the vast majority of your cap space is going to go with resigning or backfilling what you lost.

OSA, Dowdle, Golston, Turpin, Hoffman are all due for pretty significant raises. I'd imagine Kendricks, Lawson will be looking for modest raises as well. Add in a few must haves like backup QBs, long snapper and punter and most of your available cash even after the major restructures is about gone. I think its another year where the Cowboys are counting on hitting in the draft for actual roster improvement.

Yes, but if the team was ever in a "win now" mode, you can make most of the cap hits in the first few years peanuts.
And, depending on the total guarantees, you can still get out of deals by year 3. Dead cap will always be a thing in the NFL.

Barkley, for example, had a 3.8mil cap hit on a "3 year" deal. And with teams like the Rams and Eagles getting out of big QB deals, and then re-signing another QB to a big deal I don't believe in cap hell as long as your front office is competent and doesn't let feelings get in the way.

Hoffman is an ERFA, so 2026 is the year he becomes a RFA and 2027 he is an UFA. So no big deal for 2 years unless they decide to extend him next offseason.

Well a 12 win team that just extended two star players including the QB not being in win now mode doesnt get any grace period from me. They werent rebuilding...they weren't in win now mode....they dont even have a history of utilizing Free agency to make us think this was a fluky offseason. What the hell were they doing then?

Yes you can push cap hits back but the Cowboys have a future cap issue as well....they have already restructured Daks deal to death and the extension hasn't even happened yet, nor has the major restructure that is expected this year happened yet. You need to extend Parsons, Smith, Bland. They are already sitting at $195M in used 2026 cap space...upcoming extensions, restructures, and any new signings will quickly push that up into one of the larger cap hits in the league.

I'm not arguing that the cap cant be manipulated, it absolutely can and teams can push off cap hell for quite a while, but the Cowboys have created a horrible situation after years of lying to the fans and using their cap to give the impression they are maximizing actual money spent. Despite the Dak/Lamb extensions the Cowboys are still on 14th in money spent this season. Last year they were 11th, the previous year 29th. They were ranked high after the first Dak extension, but then 3 of 5 years from 2014-2019 they ranked 30th in the NFL in spending 3 times. Jerry doesnt like to spend on those big signing bonuses to manipulate the cap like other teams are doing.

I'll let Jerry and Stephen worry about that...they do a good job, with this kinda stuff.

The ERFA guys will get the minimum tender and probably return at least for training camp. Both Turpin and Bell will most likely receive tenders such as 2nd round or 3rd round tenders, and Turpin might be a 1st round tender although doubt it. Some of the UFA guys will come back on minimum salaries and a few will just move on to another team or possibly done with football.

Sieg and Anger will get a new contract for a year like usual. Zach Martin will retire effective June 1st which will spread cap hit over 2 years. The interesting players and how they approach them will be:

Lawrence DE - could bring him back on a 1 year deal although much will depend on what they feel like on Sam Williams and Kneeland and unless they sign someone in FA then Lawrence will be back.
Cook WR - cap hit is minimal so I suspect he will be gone, they seem to like Tolbert, Mingo (yes I know, I know), and Flournoy and will probably draft a guy in later rounds.
Lance QB - suspect he is resigned instead of Rush only because Jerry isn't going to give up on him and doubt anyone else is going to sign him.
Dowdle RB - he will be offered a contract but suspect some team will offer more
Odighizuwa DT - we will not get in a bidding war for him so say goodbye
Goodwin ST - probably gets a one year deal at the minimum
Kendricks LB - probably depends on who the coach is, if Zimmer gone then so will be Kendricks
Lewis CB - wants to stay in Dallas, will just depend on how much or little that Dallas offers

The rest of the UFAs will either be gone or come back on minimum deals at least for training camp. There are also a number of guys currently under contract that will either be released or maybe stay at least into training camp.

I think DLAW will sign a team friendly deal. Lewis has already said publicly that he wants to stay. I think Goodwin will sign for cheap. Kendricks is worth another $3m deal. Anger & Sieg will be resigned.

That's a big list but that's pretty common in most offseason they have a lot of those types of players needing to be resigned and I'm betting easily have that list will be resigned with no problems the rest of them can be replaced with very similar players who are on other people's teams being cut it's kind of an odd cycle but that is how it happens the bigger part of this offseason is one we need to resolve who our coaching staff is gonna be before we even know which players might be best suited to stay here that needs to be worked out ASAP....

So these kind of lists I know everyone's gonna over analyze it this happens almost every year 17 to 20% of every team has turnover mostly at the bottom of a very large roster but again half that list will be resigned they will stay here..

And they will get replaced with players that fit the new system or the system where they feel like they're very replaceable is my point lots of those guys are very replaceable.

Yep, we're creating a number of holes on fringe players and expecting to fill them with highly inflated FA's.
Look at Osa, he's getting a big pay day, just down to the lack of good DT's on the market.
If we add in a pretty uninspiring O-Line and the need for a run game means we're scraping around for the fundamentals.
I'm for hitting aspects of our game first....fix the lines first.
