2025 draft DE consensus board update

Walker is propped up by his character is my understanding because he's not a great off ball LB and his pass rush skills mostly comr from his closing burst, which is admittedly impressive. Tbf if you told me you could get a player with high chatacter, football IQ and is a good athlete.. hell yeah sign me up. But when you try to figure out where he fits it starts to get tough.

I like him more mid first than top 10.

Is the DC smart enough to know how to use Walker and Parsons together? If so, I could see something special. If not, then it might not be a good pick.

Will be fun to watch if this is what the do though. Base probably closer to a 3-4 look with Walker or Parsons coming, and the other dropping into middle zone.

I could see that being a little confusing to QBs.

I’m just trying to expand my options so I’m not sad when it’s not Tet or golden lol
The other possibilities that would not surprise me are one of the OLs (Campbell, Membou or Banks), the second RB (Hampton) or one of the CBs (Johnson or Barron).

I don't see OL as as big of a need as WR, RB and CB, but we did just lose our Hall-of-Famer and seem to be bringing in all kinds of cheap bodies at the position (Jones, Charles, Adeniji) possibly to compete with what we've already got (Hoffman, Bass, Richards) to replace him. Our front office has had a lot of good fortune drafting OL in the first (Guyton notwithstanding), so they could want to take a shot at getting another All-Pro type there. Banks likely would be the only one of those three OL available at 12, but he's another one who falls within that same tier as McMillan and Golden.

That's really the only way that Walker makes great sense, if we were going to use more 3-4. Eberflus is not a 3-4 guy though.

This is where I'm at with him. Good football player, but not a top 10 guy at all.

Walker does nothing for me as a top 20 prospect.

Bad in coverage, mediocre off the ball as a run defender and too small to be a full time Edge.

I think his best role in the NFL is a DPR which at 12 is insane to me.

I just don't see a DE being taken at 12. Maybe Walker would be such a great value that they couldn't pass on him, but we're about to make Parsons one of the highest-paid pass rushers in the game, we drafted a DE with our second-round pick last year and our top FA signing was another pass rusher.
Adding a high end DE/edge who can get after the QB is always a top priority, for every team.
Factor in that we lost 2 of our DE's (DLaw and Gohlston) in FA this year and it becomes a bigger need for this team than many realize.

Kneeland is D-Law's (hopeful) replacement on the left side and basically a run defender.
Fowler and the FA they signed, Turner, are (aging) vets on one year deals. Neither is a long term solution. With the injury history of S Williams there is no one else on the team you would want to count on to give you meaningful snaps.
Many people even feel they will consider drafting M Williams or S Stewart at 12 because they are good run defenders with upside.
But to me Walker is more of a hybrid DE/ED/LB much like M Parsons and is a step above either of those two players. Adding him would be a great get for Dallas in the long term.
He and Parsons together would allow them to get real creative in their packages. As well as help to keep Parsons fresher and stay healthier throughout the season.

I just don't see it being a priority for a team that's about to make Parsons one of the highest-paid pass rushers of all time, just spent a second-rounder on the position and just paid potentially the most it has in free agency in a long time to another pass rusher in free agency. Those factors say it is not a top priority.

I don't think Dallas sees Kneeland as just a run defender. They drafted him as a player who was already good against the run but had a lot of potential as a pass rusher. Turner is a Golston replacement — a solid run defender who doesn't offer a lot against the pass. (Golston ended up being Lawrence's replacement last year, but didn't offer as much pass rush.) Fowler is the pass rush specialist replacement, an upgrade over Lawson.

I’m going to LoL so hard when we make our standard 2nd round off the field pick and take Pearce.

He was one of my top 3 targets at 12
until the off the field stuff popped.
He keeps popping up on my mock drafts, I cringe every time it's time to take the pick!
