It is plausible Dallas’ number actually goes down with a Dak signing, as that 64m$ cap space includes 40m$ in dead cap for Dak that can be spread out if more years are added to his contract.
Why would they add more $$ to that mess?

Is half a billion on Dak worth it?

The Cowboys have only two big contracts on the books for 2025, Diggs and Steele. And they can get out from under Steele's if they want.

The dead money from Dak will not be an issue if they extend him and spread it out over the next four or more years. Same for Lamb- they can backload his contract (assuming they ever sign him to one) and pay him big money down the line when there will be more room available. That should leave plenty of room for Parsons and there will still be money left over.

The Jones boys are crying that they are broke and have no cap space. It's a lie. The lack of cap space and free agency spending is THEIR OWN FAULT.

The old excuse for not spending in free agency used to be "we like our guys". Now they aren't even paying them. NO OTHER team operates this way and it's a JOKE.
Agree, but gotta give you bad news on Steele.

His 17 million for 2025 is already guaranteed. Similar to the structure they gave to Elliott, salary guaranteed 18 months in advance when the upcoming season is already guaranteed. Can’t cut that guy.

They don’t learn. They just thought they were getting cute and getting a deal off injury. Injury or not Steele is not a 17m player, nor was he in danger of leaving but I guess they wanted to be proud of the UDFA find. Football guys they are!!
