Interesting. Ive ready many comments by owners who remark how staged the show was and that the changes made weren't really sustainable.I have never ever watched a TV reality show, other than a few minutes here and there flipping around the channels.
Unless you want to call the NFL TC ones when the Cowboys were on it. I never watched another team.
Bar Rescue came in and scoped out the bar I used to own. But they (bar rescue) declined at the time. It was busy, and going well. It did not need to be rescued. About 8 years later they contacted the person I sold it to (who also owned it when they first came around). Wanting to come in again. And she turned them down. Because there was a bar in Arlington, they chose to do that 8 years before.
it was a fairly successful bar, a local type neighorhood bar. They changed the name, and created drama for the show that was not currently there. They had to go by certain rules, and keep the name change for at least 2 years, I think it was 2 years. Let them control everything.
3 years after the show, it closed up. 2 years after, business was worse than before, changed the name back for a year. Business picked up a little bit. Then closed.
They say that the future success rate for these bars are around 50% so thats probably not a bad rate for non-franchise bar and grills......especially if some of the failures are because owners reverted back to their previous ways.
