2026 FIFA World Cup Thread

Spain’s pressure defense just wore down Argentina. Beautiful game.
That and keeping the ball away from them. The better team won today and the whole tournament. Their one, two touch passing can lull you to sleep and your chasing them. Makes you get tired

Is the World Cup finally over ? Other than the USA team, I could care less about whoever is playing and I'm tired of seeing all the coverage. Im ready to watch American football.

I could understand the Argentina tactics for the first half. But at some point you have to commit players into more forward positions. They finally did this in the final minutes of extra time and could have equalised. Too little to late! A very poor game plan.

The big talking point in Europe is the half time show. All the pundits seemed to be trashing it - saying increasing the length of half time is against the integrity of the game, may cause player injuries etc.

Dont agree with them myself. They"re getting too worked up about an extra 12 minutes of a break, which Im sure the players appreciated on a hot afternoon.

No surprise Spain won. Argentina went about as far as it could. The difference in speed and quickness to the ball was apparent all day. Argentina struggled to string together passes against the younger Spaniards. They chased all game and didn't register a shot until the closing moments. Messi at his age requires service and he got none. This game could have easily been 3-0 or 4-0.

Yeah Spain was moving the ball fluently and it is their style. If they lose the ball they swarm to get it back. As an old coach use to say the ball doesn’t sweat or get tired.

They totally dominated possession. That had to be frustrating for Argentina. I'd have to go back to the1990 final match for that kind of one sided match. That ended 1-0 as well.
