2026-MLB Season

CB Bucknor is not a major league umpire the sooner he’s terminated the better for baseball . Replay should have that effect weed out the incompetent . Bring up a highly graded minor league ump .

Know what I'm seeing? Fewer and fewer calls by umps that are way outside the strike zone.

And what does that mean? That means they could've been better before ABS and chose not to.

I get what you're saying but I think it has more to do with focus than bad umpiring.

If you've ever volunteered (or worked) to umpire games it's easy to let yourself get distracted for a pitch here and there after so many pitches and miss the actual pitch which forces you to judge the call on where the catcher caught or framed it.

I think ABS has made them more focused, at least early in the season, than they have had to be in the past when behind the plate.

Another reason that is not talked about is how eye quality worsens as people get older.

Since they rotate umpires behind the plate, they should implement a policy that limits which umpires can umpire behind the plate in games based on their age.

They don't have to fire them (which would violate EEOC laws) but they could exclude them from calling balls and strikes and just keep them in the field.

I think it's laziness. I've seen it before when unions won't let businesses fire employees. Umps have way too much power over their own jobs.

Call me crazy but why not build an open air stadium a real by golly baseball stadium with its own quirks in downtown Sacramento make it cozy no bad seats about 45k and have the A’s stay in California ? Somehow Las Vegas seems all wrong for them .

Like the way my Rangers went toe to toe with the Dodgers over the weekend . Lost the series 2-1 but didn’t get blown out or swept . deGrom really showed up as an Ace today 6 innings 2 runs and the bullpen nailed the last 3 innings . If healthy the core of this team can contend . The pitching staff , starters / bullpen have been excellent . Offense inconsistent .

the Mets are pathetic. This is probably the 1st time in 30 years I have gone a full week without ever turning on the game to see what is going on. The score appears on my phone screen and I just don't even waste my time. They have had the pleasure many times of being the worst team money can buy. This year may be the best of all those. The thing is, the starting pitching except for Peterson has been very good. I am not sure how they can fix it. The trade deadline this year will be interesting but Cohen will have to pay a billion dollars or more to get someone to take these guys. Polanco, Simien, Bichette, all the outfielders except Soto, and especially Lindor have been horrible. Lindor looks like he does not even want to be out there. Mental mistakes are happening every game with him. Sit his butt down for a few days.

The Rangers are happy with Nimmo hitting over 300 in the lead off spot . I confess to not knowing the ins and outs of the Mets other than an 8 game losing streak or something. . Have the Mets regretted that trade already ? Simien was supposed to be 2nd basemen hit near the top of the order .

I could come back at my age and hit better than Semien

The Mets screwed up and got rid of the wrong guys(Diaz, Alonso and Nimmo) instead of the clubhouse cancer named Lindor.

Semien was a key player in Texas WS win in 23 I guess his abilities have slipped . Josh Smith his replacement in Texas hasn’t exactly been all that yet hopefully his play picks up. Nimmo handling RF & lead off nicely. .

Texas rode a 4 run 9th to pull out a win today the bats hopefully coming back . The AL West could be a wild ride maybe Houston doesn’t dominate .

The NL East too early to tell the Mets could get it together . The Rangers played the A’s last series Jeff McNeil covering second nicely guy can hit . I think Lindor drama extended to clubhouse problems with McNeil .

Lindor clashed with McNeil, Nimmo and Pete. The Mets will finish around .500, they aren’t a good team. They only have two quality starting pitchers in McLean and Holmes. Peralta and Senga are a hit or miss while Peterson just sucks.

Don’t get me started on the offense….

Joc Pederson signed by Texas for 2 yrs 37 so if do the new math that’s 18.5 per . Thankfully this is year 2 the end is coming he’s been a total bust as a DH . The righty part of the DH platoon Andrew McCutcheon hasn’t done anything else either .

You either have to be patient or let both go bring up a hot hitter out of triple A . DH does not stand for “ automatic out “. Both these dudes look past expiration dates . Older vets .

Maybe trade them to the Mets . Just kidding
don’t tempt Steve Cohen

Welp, the Mets have lost 11 in a row. I am kind of hoping it goes to 27 to set the record…..that would be fun :oldcouple:

Hearns and Mendoza need to be fired tomorrow.

Hey, was wondering if there were any other Atlanta Braves fans on the forum? Pretty fun start for our team. Grew up watching TBS in the 80s-90s. That's why I am a fan here in Virginia. Lots of 7:35pm start times with Dale Murphy/Bob Horner (when I was real little). Then in the 90s Tom Glavine, David Justice, John Smoltz and all those guys started showing up. Dale Murphy is one of my favorite players ever.

:espn: Substitute the Braves for ESPN there…..:muttley:

The Rangers are wasting some good pitching with this garbage of an offense Chris Young has put together . The DH should be a place of strength in a lineup and Texas has lefty hitting Joc Pederson and Righty Andrew McCutchen both of whom are cooked burned finished. Then OF Wyatt Langford is hurt every 10 mins .
It’s a garbage lineup that won’t contend in the West . Call up some hot bats from the minors for goodness sakes .

Back to back shutouts of the 1st place Cubs over the weekend . Nice pitching . deGrom 11 strikeouts over 7 innings .
