2026 NCAA Football Season

How are the Irish looking this year? Will they be able to overcome losing their Heisman candidate running back?
Their QB was a first year starter last year, so one should assume he will be better this year than last. He lost the first 2 games of his career (against 2 playoff teams) by a total of 4 points then won the next 10.

I would expect them to make the playoffs this year, especially since they only need to be #12 or higher to get an auto-bid.

Got a guy who has a good shot at the Heisman at QB
and they return every starter from the Defense
most polls have them top 5 and several top 3
I know that really grinds your teeth and I am happy about it

You are too sensitive. Why would it grind my teeth? You care WAY too much about what other people think.

Notre Dame should definitely make the playoffs this year. Their schedule is a cakewalk. The only real team they play is Miami, and everyone else is pretty much non-playoff team pig slop.
As long as the Irish don’t crap the bed, they will definitely make the playoffs.
And who knows what could happen from there.

I recall you claiming they did not deserve to make the playoffs last year
the corruption and sleaze in the playoffs means that no one should feel safe about anything

You recall correctly. The playoff committee, the majority of the country, and myself all claimed that they did not deserve to make the playoffs last year because they didn’t actually deserve to make the playoffs last year.
They lost both of their games last year that were against real opponents and they didn’t have many meaningful wins or a conference championship.

If they lose only one game this year, they will probably make the playoffs. But if they lose two games this year, they absolutely do not deserve to make the playoffs again in all likelihood, depending on how everyone else plays. Notre Dame’s schedule is usually too soft to allow them to have more than one loss and still make the playoffs.

actually most of those with any brains understood that having James Madison and Alabama in and Notre Dame out was corrupt and dirty
But then some people are just stupid

Would you agree that if they lose 2 games this year, they probably won’t deserve to make the playoffs this year given their soft schedule?

and once again you dodge reality
Remember when Alabama lost the SEC Championship game and was completely owned in the process and the committee said
THAT DOES NOT MATTER
And you swallowed that bilge whole
anyone claiming James Madison belonged in and Notre Dame did not was either a fool or an idiot
or a blind Irish hater
which were you?

what schedule did James Madison have?
Love people who serve up softballs

I’m not arguing again about last season’s results. You lost that argument last year. Notre Dame didn’t make the playoffs last year because they lost to the only two good teams on their schedule. If they would’ve taken care of their own business, they absolutely would’ve been in the playoffs. The playoff committee disagrees with you, and you will always be wrong on that fact.

Get over it and move on. It’s the 2026 season. Take care of business this year, don’t crap the bed against two teams, and the Irish will make the playoffs. I will even root for them against teams like Ohio State and Alabama. How does that make me an Irish hater?

I do chuckle at the pundits who criticize ND's schedule (which is weak outside of a couple games) but apparently ignore Miami's. Miami is scheduled to play just one preseason AP Top 25 team. ND at least plays 3.

You’re completely right. Both Notre Dame‘s and Miami’s schedules are complete pig slop. It’s absolutely ridiculous.
