2026 NCAA Football Season

Notre Dame should definitely make the playoffs this year. Their schedule is a cakewalk.
“Cakewalk” is weak. They are in line with several big name programs. They play 3 AP ranked teams, which is just 1 less than most Big 10 and SEC teams, but ahead of most Big 12 and ACC teams.

For comparison, Indiana plays 4, Oregon plays 4, OSU has 6, Penn State has 3, Miami has 1, Alabama plays 4, Georgia plays 4, Clemson plays 2, Texas Tech plays 1, BYU plays 2.

Part of the issue is the ACC is pig slop. And when ND signed the Wisconsin deal, one game was to be played in 2020 and then in 2021 and Wisconsin was actually pretty good when the deal was signed. But the 2020 game got cancelled due to COVID and moved to 2026. Wisconsin has since fallen apart.
This.

The ACC was a much more respectable football conference when ND made the deal to join the ACC in all other sports and play (almost) half their football games against the ACC.

It isn’t Notre Dame’s fault the ACC sucks and there isn’t anything they can do about it.

And then yeah, you have the issue where Wisky was 10-2 the year ND and them agreed to play. Now, 10 years later, Wisky sucks royally.

Indiana is another funny one. Now their schedule is largely based on what they pull in the Big 10 slate as they are literally not playing anyone with a pulse in OOC games. Cignetti pretending he wants to play ND is a joke because he's been clearing out any and all P4 teams from his OOC schedule. ND was the last Power 4 team they had on a future schedule for like the next 7 years. Now they have zero.

Indiana is literally the only P4 team without a P4 OOC opponent through 2032.

Cignetti dropped Virginia, Louisville and now Notre Dame. I actually don’t blame him for dropping the tough OOC games but he needs to shut up when he talks about how much he want to play them.

One of the ironies from all the “Notre Dame should join a conference” people is that the only conference ND can join is the ACC (until 2038) and if they did so, their schedule would become easier, not harder.

Nice to see the locals at SMU crack the top 20. That HC is destined to be at least an OC in the pros .

And Bill B and the TarHeels dispose of TCU today . Nice win for his program

I’m not arguing again about last season’s results. You lost that argument last year. Notre Dame didn’t make the playoffs last year because they lost to the only two good teams on their schedule. If they would’ve taken care of their own business, they absolutely would’ve been in the playoffs. The playoff committee disagrees with you, and you will always be wrong on that fact.

Get over it and move on. It’s the 2026 season. Take care of business this year, don’t crap the bed against two teams, and the Irish will make the playoffs. I will even root for them against teams like Ohio State and Alabama. How does that make me an Irish hater?
James Madison
Alabama
you cannot talk about them can you
not surprising

William Jewell College RB dies after medical emergency during game

William Jewell College junior running back MicahJo Barnett died after experiencing a medical emergency on the sideline -- and shortly after scoring a touchdown -- during the Missouri-based Division II school's season opener against Fort Lewis College on Saturday, police and school officials said.

Without providing many details, police in Liberty, Missouri, issued a statement that said emergency officials at the game attended to a player about 20 minutes after kickoff. The player was transported by ambulance to a hospital, police said.

The player was pronounced dead at the hospital and was identified by the school as Barnett. No other details were released.

So as usual you cut and run
no ability to deal with the truth at all

This Memphis/UNLV is pretty entertaining. Nothing like a late night bet on teams that I know little about :muttley:
