Draft Day ***2026 NFL Draft First Round Thread***

Editions 7 defense with these picks and free agency:

Downs
Lawrence
Q Williams
Gary
J Thompson
Durant
Locke
Ogbonnia
Bullard
Love the lineup so far, and they are looking very stout. It is a young defense though, which means we are building for the future not the present and that is what they need to be doing. I dig it.

Well....they rebounded by fleecing the Eagles....Gotta give them credit there. So basically we moved our 5ths for 4ths....and got the player we wanted. Well done. But I think we got lucky.
That was a backhanded compliment. So they got lucky! Hahaha.

As it stands, the DL can bring the heat.

S is vastly improved, CB is manageable.

I'm still not sold on OLB, but we can work with Gary, EZ, Lawrence, and Houston.

Need to land an ILB on day 2. Trade into the 2nd if necessary.

This defense is looking much better than it did this time last year. Still some work to do, but lots of time to plug holes before opening kickoff.
That’s why I wanted Bain first and Thieneman second….Bain would have added more rush than Lawerence and Theineman not as good at Downs but he’s still a dope middle fielder who can play slot. Think the rush would have been better and safety with Thieneman plus Thompson is more than enough to make safety way better.

Rid the 2 fours and get Rodriguez or similar?

Trifecta

the DL, S now the middle, LB

Unless Murray is the answere.

Sooo.

We got an undersized safety with a possible degenerative knee and a player with "potential".

Same old Jerry, as Chris Berman always said "stumblin, bumblin".

Of course the knee may all have been a smokescreen to get Downs to drop and the DE may turn into another Ware. Or it could be another LVE, Jaylon Smith and Mazi Smith all over again.

Guess Jerry just can't help himself, HAS to take an injured player and HOPE he can play a few good years and HAS to draft a player higher than needed just to show everybody he's "smarter than the average bear".

Keeping my fingers crossed, but it seems we've seen this before, too many times.

There have been more OGs selected in round 1 than CBs. Not often that happens.
