Draft Day ***2026 NFL Draft First Round Thread***

That’s why I wanted Bain first and Thieneman second….Bain would have added more rush than Lawerence and Theineman not as good at Downs but he’s still a dope middle fielder who can play slot. Think the rush would have been better and safety with Thieneman plus Thompson is more than enough to make safety way better.

I was split on Bain and Downs at 11. Didn't expect Downs to be there. I'm happy with how it played out, but wouldn't have been disappointed with your scenario either.

Either way, the defense improved today. Downs brings high level play on the back end, and Q is obviously one of, if not the best interior defensive linemen in the game. Q and Clark in the middle should be disruptive enough in the middle to create opportunities for the outside backers, but none of that matters if ILB isn't addressed in a big way.

Bain as a bull rusher I’m wondering how long it will take him to get acclimated
I think because he plays with power, he will have more success earlier. Lawrence depends on his speed and isn’t as good at bending the corner as Bain. So NFL tackles will push him wide until he gains the strength to take the inside with power so they can’t get a jump with their drops.

Since the Bears took a Safety, do you think they were the ones that were planning to trade up to get Downs?

You have to get to the passer . Explains the pick . Now go out and get a LB pick 92

That’s the case for any player taken at that spot. Who was a sure fire lock to make us better on D?
Bane, Measidor, Styles, to name a few.

Look, I"ll give the guys every chance to prove me wrong, as always.

But why can't we pass by players with injuries and those who need "development"? I remember drafting guys like Parsons and Martin, highly ranked players who are NFL-ready.

Not so much this draft.
