George Pickens Tagged and Traded... to the Jets getting back the first they lost in the Big Q trade and a 4th.

Picks are a projection of where I think Dallas will finish next season. The Jets pick they get, is actually where Green Bay finishes next year. 20 is GB's pick in this scenario. Jets finish 4th worst so pick 104 is what they give up in the 4th round.

20T- WR Nick Marsh (6'3, 210) Indiana... big X WR to replace pickens. Best player at Michigan State. Transfered to Indiana and should put up some stellar numbers this year with Josh Hoover throwing to him and a good cast around him.

25. DT Will Echoles (6'3, 315) Ole Miss... reminds me of Kenny Clark and that's who he will be replacing in 2028. Drafting a Defensive Tackle a year early is the way to go. It usually takes them a year or two to reach their NFL potential.

57. WLB Cade Uluave (6'1, 235) BYU... Overshown just signed Mulageta as his agent, he's likely gone next year. Uluave was a tackling machine at Cal. He will probably be one of the Butkus Trophy finalist next year.

89. RT Lance Heard (6'6,335) Kentucky... Steele will be cut finally and this will be his replacement. I think he would beat out Nate Thomas for the job. He has the longest arms ever almost 37 inches. Transfer from Tennessee.

104T- QB Nico Iamaleava (6'6, 215) UCLA... Hasn't produced like all the hype that surronds this guy says he should. Still needs to fill out a bit, but he has all of the traits you could want. Can sit and learn behind Dak for a year or two.

No 5th part of Pickens trade with Steelers was a 5th and 6th round pick swap. We'll say Steelers finsihed 10th worst that puts the pick they gave Dallas in the 6th at around 191.

191. FS Dwayne McDougle lll (6'0, 205) Nebraska... Hooker is out of here next year. This guy started at Junior College, Transferred to Idaho(FCS) and then up to FBS with San Diego State and he has improved at every level each year. His final step is the Power 4 conferences and with his trajectory I think good things are in order at Nebraska.

206. G Emmanuel Poku (6'5, 325) South Carolina... Kojo is his Nickname. He was ECU's best Olineman for all of his 35 starts with the team. We'll see if he can still dominate with a step up in competition. Bass replacement.

241. MLB Caleb Bacon (6'4, 240) Penn State... will be a nice backup to Barham. He was slated to start in 2024 but got injured and missed the whole year. Finally got his chance this year and put up solid film at Iowa State. He followed Matt Campbell to Penn State. I trust Campbell to make this guy into something; such a good coach.

I know everyone will want a RB. I think it can wait 1 more year. Still got Williams for a few years and Blue should be better this year. Mafah and Leupke are fine as breather backs. My favorite RB if they decide to go that way is Jadan Baugh (6'1, 230) Florida... I have him as a fringe 1st already as a Junior, if he goes back to school I would take him in the first in 2028.

Why on earth would the Jets trade for Pickens?
They're going to be packaging picks to finally get their QB.
Even if they didn't just give G Wilson a 130m extension and pick Omar Cooper at 30, Pickens isn't someone you want to bring in with a young unestablished QB.

KC, Rams, Buffalo, maybe the Chargers. Teams who think they're one player from being over the top is your market.
Not teams developing young QBs.

That said Dallas has 2 seasons to make a run with Dak and then this gets shredded.
Makes more sense trying to make that run with a player 2 seasons in the system than with with a rookie you're trying to develop on the fly!

Yeah, I get it. Pickens is a good player and a lot of people want to keep him. I would too. I don't think it's in the cards. This in all likelyhood, will be his last season in Dallas. Rookie WR's make an impact all the time right out of the gate. I'm sure Dak will make it work.

I agree with you that other teams will be interested in Pickens and this won't be the only option, but for arguments sake.

The Jets will have the cap space to take on another 35m dollar WR. Rookie QB contract. Even if they part with their lowest 1st round pick, they will still have 2 more in 2027 draft and 2 in the 2028 draft. Those picks will probably be pretty high too. Jets will be a top 5 pick and Colts 10-15, but I'm not a soothsayer so that's just heresay. They will have plenty of ammunition to move up and grab a Manning, Sayin or Moore.

We're a long way from any of this happening. Try not to get to excited there Exciter!

The Jets only have 1 pick in 2028. Jumped the gun there. Still a lot of ammunition.

Lol,
Nothing to be excited about.
There's no logical reason to bringing in a rookie QB, try to develop him which is already difficult enough and then hamstring him trying to manage a WR with a history of immaturity and manic depressive episodes.
You're much better off using that capital of a LT who can protect his blindside or a RB that can move up the safeties or a TE that can dependably find holes in zone, catch the ball reliably and even as a bonus offer run after the catch!

One thing about the Mock. I said they would Draft Heard and cut Steele. That's not gonna happen. Steele took a pay cut and increased his guaranteed money. If they cut him they would be taking on a lot of dead money 25m. Heard could sit and learn for a year. They can cut or trade Steele in the 2027 off-season. 10m in dead cap but that's doable.

Eh, I don't think they're near as down on Steel as the fan base.
Thomas on the left side looked like he should at minimum be able to handle the right.
Cornelius looked impressive in preseason before all the injuries cropped up.

Guyton has to show more this year or it will be time to begin earnestly looking for his replacement!

The players sound good I just think you have them at the wrong spot since we will be picking last in each round next year

No way the Jets are trading a first for Pickens.

Besides that, the names are fine I guess. I don't think it's reasonable to assume an OT available at 89 is a plug-and-play starter. If he's that good, he's going much earlier.

I also think drafting mid-round QBs is a pretty pointless exercise.

Your probably right about Heard. Come draft time next season he could be a 1st round option. He has a lot of technique issues to work on until then.

It's a pretty stacked QB class. In other classes like this years, a 4th rounder would be a JAG. In this class talent will be pushed down the board, not every team needs a QB. There were 5 QB's taken in the top 4 rounds this year, I expect double that for the 2027 draft class. Dak was a 4th round QB.......

1. Arch Manning, Texas*
2. Julian Sayin, Ohio State*

9. Demond Williams, Washington*
10. CJ Carr, Notre Dame*
11. Gunner Stockton, Georgia*

I'll stop there. There are about 15 more that could be drafted. All the players with ***** are underclassmen and could go back to school. These are my ratings as of now, subject to change.

Now watch I'll be completely wrong and most of these guys will go back to school because of NIL. No rush to get to the NFL anymore since the players are already rich.
