23 players with a 1st round grade

I thought it was between 23 to 25 players.

Typically the Cowboys (and many teams) have about 23 first round grades.

However, given the number of junior who came out early, I thought it was Vela who said we had about 25 first round grades this year. In any case, I think the number is 23-25 area.

Because he is still friends with people in our scouting department so im sure they told him.

Im officially in not paying attention to reports mode. First Iupati wont make it past SF or Pitt and now hes barely a 1st rounder?

In talking to him last night, he gave me some good info on prospects that are gaining momentum, as well as trade whispers he's heard from his connections within the league. I hope to talk to him again next Wednesday night before the draft, but this is what he told me last night, and it certainly helps put things in perspective IMO:


-Dez Bryant won't get passed the Bengals at 20

-The Patriots LOVE Demaryius Thomas

-The Eagles have been in contact with multiple teams picking from #7 to #15- teams are unsure who they're targeting-Some say FS others say DT and others say LB

-Morgan Burnett is RAPIDLY climbing Draft Boards, Several teams have given him a 1st round grade

-WR Mike Williams is off the draft board of as many as 10 teams

-USC OT Charles Brown is falling down draft boards, looks to be a mid 2nd round pick

- as many as 18 NFL Front Offices are torn on the "Taylor Mays" Question, including the Cowboys

The Dolphins have asked Derrick Morgan to lose 8 to 10 pounds

Sean Weatherspoon is drawing rave reviews from many NFL scouts. Some even suggest a top 10 pick.

By his count, Only 4 teams have given Mike Iupati a clear cut 1st round grade.

Most NFL Teams are worried that USC DE Everson Griffen is strikingly similar to Vernon Gholston

Penn State DT Jared Odrick is top 15 Draft Pick and could go in the top 10

Because the draft is so deep, several scouts have told him that TEs wont start going off the board until mid 2nd round.

3 Teams, the Carolina Panthers, Buffalo Bills and another one unnamed appear anxious and willing to offer their 2011 1st round selection to move up in the draft and have already put out a few "feelers" to put teams on notice.

Several Scouts including one from a "QB Needy" team says the Tim Tebow "lovefest" is be purely manufactured and nothing but a ploy to increase his draft draft stock.

all i can say when i did my mock i got 23 players with first ground grades,
after that falls off to 2nd round of talent equal value, with some players with red flags due to injuries, etc...

Because he may be rated in the 24-32 area.

1 of the 4 teams who supposedly have a 1st round grade on him may have him in the 18-23 area.

Bryan Broaddus did say teams typically assign 23-25 first round grades per year. I don't remember hearing him say that the Cowboys had given out 23 first round grades this year.

And Rafael Vela's source did tell him we had issued 25 first round grades this year.

For several reasons, first off all teams have different grades, and it is not uncommon for 40+ players to get first round grades by atleast one NFL team. All it takes is one team high in the draft to love you for you to go high in the draft.

Also keep in mind, that his stock does seem to be dropping some with people being concerned with how safe of a pick he is.
