247Sports: Predicting the rest of the Cowboys season; 9-7

ATL is arguably the worst DEF in the league but even if you lose that game you beat INDY and end up 9-7 which is what I predicted.

Indy is week 15 and they are already tied for last place in the AFCS with HOU looking to run away with that division.
Indy may be tanking by then while DAL has no R1 draft pick benefit to consider.
Dallas may be tanking by week 15 though too. There’s no good explanation for having them beating Atlanta as bad as Dallas has been on the road. Ok Atlanta is a bottom 5 defense but Dallas is a bottom 5 offense more or less so I still don’t see how we predict that one for DAL.

I get why you guys wouldn't want a 9 and 7 record but bottom line is 9 and 7 might win the nfce ....

I want the 1st round pick next year to be in the 20s and if we make it to 9 and 7 we will be close....who knows though

Btw...no playoffs and Garrett is gone so I wouldn't worry about 9 and 7 no playoff
Why would you want to pick in the 20’s
We don’t have a first rnd pick but that means same spot in other rounds
I want to get in the playoffs
If not I want to pick very high in the rest of the tounds

Just think about what you just said. 9-7 and no playoffs. Now what would 7-9 bring us?

Possibly:

1. A better pick in rounds 2 on down?
2. Garrett fired?
3. Garrett fired?
4. Garrett fired?
5. Garrett fired?
6. Linehan fired?
7. Linehan fired?

You guys need to stop putting words in my mouth...i never said anything about wanting to go 9 and 7 without making the playoffs....i said 9 and 7 might win the nfce .....which means playoffs

Then I said if we go 9 and 7 and miss the playoffs then Garrett is gone so all would be happy anyway

9-7 would be a major setback. Nothing will change. Rather 3-13 without tanking, just getting beat.

9-7 will not do a thing this year. We dont have a first round pick, you will not sniff the PO's, about the only good thing is saying bye-bye to red for not making it.

Sticking with my original before season prediction of 8-8 at best.

If he goes 9-7, he is not going bye-bye.

Why is this so hard to understand?

I don't see Dallas beating Atlanta in Atlanta or winning either game against the Eagles. I see 7-9 or 8-8. But I could also see 5-11. Maybe Columbo makes a difference with the OL but is that going to be a quick turnaround? I think not.

If it is, then we have to consider the hiring of Paul Alexander one of the great blunders in Cowboys history.

Pretty good run-down of each game we have coming up. Recommended read.

That is not how I see it! I have already been spot on with the first half of the season except for the Jacksonville game.

Titans - W this is a 50/50 game the titans were a playoff team last season
at Eagles - L Eagles strength is stuffing the run and thats all Dallas has.
at Falcons- L the Falcons at home score 30 points a game and not to mention they own Dallas after last year.
Skins- W they have become a tough gritty team with that nasty run stuffing defense. Held the best RBs in the league to under 40yds a game rushing
Saints- L very good rush defense and potent offense
Eagles- L They can shut down Dallas run game no defense has been able to shut down Wentz.
at Colts- L on the road where Luck can put up points and Dak struggles
Bucs- L another 50/50 game where if Fitzmagic plays they beat the Cowboys. They play in a tough division and Dallas doesnt scare them.
at Giants- W the Giants have given up!

This puts Dallas at 6-10

We will pick up a extra game and go at least 10-6. That will likely take the division.

Personally, playoffs is going to be a waste. So going 9-7 and possibly making the playoffs and getting beat in the first game doesn't appeal to me. Garrett would definitely get a new contract.

But going 7-9 would most likely do it. And the other obvious draft benefits.

If you told me 11-5 then I would be all for it. Because that would mean we made a serious turnaround and we make the playoffs.

Anything where we get into the playoffs is a win in my book....get to the dance then go from there...you just never know

I see two of those games the other way. Atlanta and Philly, that's 7-9. But I'd be ok with 9-7. I've come to terms with Garrett for 15 more years. Win all we can, make them entertaining at least.

Game theory, or whatever they call it, has the Cowboys at a 16% chance of making the playoffs.
