What's up with Bruce Carter and DeMarco Murray? I heard Murray was suppose to be back sometime this week. Any word on our LB? Is he still on the PUP list?

neither players roles on this team at the moment would suggest rushing them back anytime soon..

Murray is day-to-day (but then again, aren't we all). Carter isn't really expected to anything until after the start of the season. I don't know if he's actually been placed on PUP yet, but the thinking is he probably will once the season starts.

I asked the same question , 10 days ago as season is almost getting closer, and got laughed at.

I'm anxious that these guys maynot be ready by the season and we may have dead roster spots.

Neither will play much of a role this season.

It wasn't long ago that many thought Murray would start over Felix. But then again a lot or people thought lonyae miller was better then choice

Due to the depth at the position Carter likely won't but we will see a lot of Murray.

There's no sense in getting your feelings hurt since opinions here are wide, varied, often baseless and subject to changes in the weather. On those rare occasions when you might feel vindicated it is a good idea to refrain from lashing out at the faceless mob since most don't care and there's a good chance you'll get laughed at again,,, like now! :laugh2:

Everybody knew going in to the season that Carter would likely miss a few games at the very least, maybe the season, and Murray just has a slight hammy problem, it will heal.

We should rush them back from their injuries so they can get really hurt. That would make a lot of fans feel vindicated. After all, we are the only team with injured draft picks right?

Carter will probably start the year on the PUP list and miss the first 6 weeks of the season and it's better to be careful with Murray, dont want the injury to last all year, make sure it's fully healed.

How can this be?

LOL ! No worries, I am not that sensitive , this board is full of people who are challenged in some capacity(He he )like most of the forum boards are.

But in my opinion a high 2 and 3rd pick should contibute a bit in their 1st season atleast as backups. They haven't got a chance to hit the field and started learning the speed of NFL and get better.

I also think they should heal first but why make a pick like that ? Gambling on injured players can be done in lower rounds.

If you look around the league we dont see many teams have their 2 of the top 3 picks in the rehab.

Just my .02

The problem with that is the Cowboys knew Carter stood a good chance of not playing this year when they drafted him. But they decided to take what they thought was a 1st round value in the 2nd as a long term investment. Which is what all draft picks should really be. Fans focus too much on immediate return.

So knowing that, I have a hard time criticizing that pick right now. They knew the situation and they feel down the road it's gonna be worth it. I do have some doubt on whether he's a good fit in a 3-4. We shall see on that.

Murray, I don't know. Either they're being really cautious or the injury is worse than what was reported.

We need to stop with the 'let's treat the first year as a redshirt year' picks in the early rounds of the draft. Mainly because I haven't seen it work out for us.

I think that's what annoys fans about these two, and I really like the potential of both guys.

There's about a handful of things I really don't like that Jerry and Co. do with the team and organization, and this is one of them.

I'm far from a supporter of Jerry Jones but I don't agree with the redshirt year comment. You draft players as a long term investment. Their 2nd, 3rd and 4th years are just as important as their 1st.

There's nothing wrong with taking a player in the 2nd round that you feel is a 1st round talent that simply fell because he may not play much his first year. That philosophy I think is sound as long as your scouting is good. If Carter turns out to be a beast in this defense nobody's gonna care about his first year and people will be left wondering how the heck he was still there in the 2nd round.

Fans want to treat the NFL Draft as veteran free agency. It doesn't work that way.

We knew that Carter would be on a delayed schedule. The Murray injury was just something that could happen to anyone.

I have to say, I like both picks well enough, but I was certainly scratching my head when we took both of them.
I'm sure there were a few of us who were hoping we'd take Bowers or Austin or Raheem Moore or Hudson or Wisniewski or Brandon Harris or someone else when we grabbed Carter.

And I'm sure the same can be said for Murray with guys like John Moffit, Will Rackley, Ryan Mallett, Mason Foster, and others on the board.

It would not surprise me, however, if they both end up being very good players. They just maybe would not have been who I would have taken.

The Carter pick didn't surprise me. He's a Cowboys type draft pick. Hoping to get a steal with the guy coming off an injury.

The Murray selection did surprise me. I had him pegged to go to the Packers in the late 2nd, so I don't think he was a reach at all, but I didn't think we'd go that direction with some quality OL still on the board.

No need to rush them back as you said. But I'm just kind of curious as to when they're supposed to be back.
