Was the difference. That a 6 point swing right there. Yes dak made a horrible decision, a lot of it is one him.

But for the life of me why in the hell are we throwing there. In an empty set none the less?

Clock management. At the very least you run it there once more and kill clock, or make SF burn another timeout. Even if you then throw the pick on the next play they likely don't come down and kick a FG.

Just horrible. I don't get it.
That type of crap has been going on since Romo and JG days. I can't count how many times I asked the same question you are asking since 2007. It used to drive me nuts when we used to pass from empty set near the goal line. It's time to move on from KM and his JG/Linehan influenced offense.

Ok so I went back the 49ers had two timeouts left. Still... if you run the ball there. They are either letting the clock run, or using one of those timeouts.

Most likely if you get a first they aren't calling timeout.

2 yards. 2 freaking yards, that were basically being given to us. and we would have left half-time with either the lead or tied.

For the life of me this entire sequence frustrated me beyond belief. The absolute worse sequence of the year.

Dak also may have the TE open at the bottom but throws into double coverage.

We have always been bad in empty sets. Kellen moore sucks and dak is right behind him

But just why! Why! From a simple game management standpoint you could a ran it two straight downs and not even picked up the first. And ended the half with the lead.

You can still score a td there but your closer enough to where you want bleed to clock or at least force sf to call timeout.

Game flipped there for me… just awful

It was situationally dumb. This team just has to melt down near the end of halves and games.

That was awful. Run the ball! Run the ball! Run the ball!
Gallup was wide open on the curl.....#4 just didn't see him. He quit even looking his way. People need to realize Prescott has a history of scapegoating WRs.....Dez....Cooper....Washington......is Gallup next?

There is no excuse for a 5 wr set on 2nd and 2. You're telling me zeke can't get two yards and you are in control of the game. We are a stupid team and it consistently shows in the moments that matter.
You have a down to waste.....it's 2nd down. 1 time out left....your @ the 18......1:23 left. Time wasn't an issue. #4 just didn't see the whole field....Gallup was open.....Schultz was open....Worst case should have been...incomplete...it's 3rd and 2....

But nope.....#4 with a bad decision.

The video shows how awful it is. He stares down ceedee. The defender jumps the route. He’s basically double covered

In this situation, you need to make sure that you score preferably a TD and if they get the ball back keep them from scoring. Or if you score and can't get the TD then run the damn clock out, kick the FG, make them use all their timeouts and leave them little to no time left on the clock. Making that call on 2nd and 2 was a panic move for no reason. What we did in that situation was inexcusable and it cost us. Changed the momentum of the game.

Ironic, because McCarthy used to beat us because we were doing it back then too.

Something in the water in JerryDome?
This is what happens when you're assigned coaches vs bringing in your own staff. Everything trickles down from top to bottom. Jerry insist on having Moore as OC, Moore calls bonehead plays that McCarthy either won't, or can't change. Jerry drafts 4th round QB that MM has to use as QB, who then throws 2 picks in important game. I can go on and on.

It was unbelievable that a QB who has been around as long as he has now forces that ball in there. I hated the play call too - if you have any sense you RUN THE DAMN BALL there. Not sure if the TE was open or not, but can't Dak just throw it away. I mean it was a bad play call, Lamb is covered - throw it away. 3rd and two is fine. Why force it in there? He acts like every play is 4th down. We would still have 3rd down and possibly 4th , depending on MM's faith in Maher at that point, to get 2 DAMN YARDS - WOW. At the least we should have gotten 3 points, and they shouldn't have gotten the ball again that half.
It seems MM was sick the day they taught clock management, end of half or game management, etc- he is so clueless at it. There have been so many examples these last 2 years. How can a Super Bowl winning coach not understand that?

that sequence through the failure to cash in the fumble for a TD was the game. Two red zone opportunities, 3 points, and they never got back
Same as always. You convert those and Turpin bounces outside you win by 13+

I cringe when I saw the formation at 2nd & 2. Everytime something goes wrong. Team got greedy and should've done the logical to run the ball. Pick up the first down for a new fresh set of downs. It's like KM is playing Madden over there.
