What is interesting is that I believe the WR percentage gets BETTER in the second round than the 1st. If I remember correctly, probably not, the biggest busts in the first round go: 1.QB 2.DT 3.WR

Actually I believe statistically the three highest percentage early drafted busts are QB, WR and DL.

The Cowboys lead with the most 2nd/3rd round busts...all in the OL. Some people on the board think the Cowboys don't value OL. But what you are seeing in recent years is in response to these high round busts of past years. In general, Dallas grades OL lower than where they generally will actually go in the draft. They're don't mind taking quality in the first round but they are very leery of taking OL in the 2nd and 3rd rounds.

Yes because teams get caught up on need of a qb and reach on one and then people get caught up on combine numbers and athletic ability for DES and WRs

Some of those were huge reaches. I recall being floored when Miami to took Pat White in the 2nd round. He seemed like a 7th rounder..maybe.

actually more to the point is the total complete failure to get anyone decent after the first round since gurode was a 2nd rd pick in 2002. though one could argue Free.
