Picked this up from FoxSports.com as they evaluated the WR talent and seemed to show a preference in investing a draft pick more on 2nd day talent rather than 'overvalued' 1st day talent.

Kinda went through some of their favorites for the 2nd day and these 3 stood out, to me...Anyone know much about these guys?

Earl Bennett WR Vanderbilt

Jordy Nelson WR Kansas State

Keenan Burton WR Kentucky

No two DB's in the draft!! If we don't get Make it rain man. and A SS too..

Nah, I meant WRs on the 2nd day...Lower round picks.

I agree about the DBs, go 1st round and pick up the RB in Round 2.

I'd guess that E Bennett goes in Round 2. Nelson in Round 3 or 4.

I like what I've read about Nelson but never seen him play really

I'm not sure whee Hawkins will go, but if he slips to the 2nd day, some team's gonna end up w/ a very solid receiver who knows how to run routes and has pretty decent hands and speed. The only thing that may prevent him from contributing his first year is that I think he'll need an offseason to bulk up a little. Outside of that, he seems pretty polished and one of the safer bets in this draft. Should be a solid number 2 for years to come.

I really like him as well. If we don't get a WR in FA (though I think we will), I wouldn't mind him end of the 3rd round. I don't think he lasts to our 4th round pick.

His stock started shooting up during the senior bowl and he's put in a solid effort at the combine so I don't think he makes it to our pick in the third.

Earl Bennett WR Vanderbilt

Height: 5-11 1/2 | Weight: 209 | 40-Time: 4.48
Official Bio

Strengths:
Has good size and a solid frame...Excellent hands..Terrific route runner and knows how to get open...Tough and fearless...Very smooth...Nice vision and can do some damage after the catch...Gives pretty good effort as a blocker...Very smart...Might be able to contribute as a return man...Hard worker...Top intangibles...Productive.

Weaknesses:
Just average athleticism...Not a blazer and could have trouble separating from pro corners...Is not very quick or explosive and lacks a burst..Not much of a vertical or big play threat...He is not overly elusive..Upside at the next level might be limited.

Notes:
Really burst onto the scene as a true freshman in '05 and quickly emerged as Jay Cutler's favorite target..A three-year starter in the SEC...Has experience returning kicks and punts..Not the most physically gifted wideout in the world but makes up for it by doing all of the little things..Profiles as a prototypical possession receiver

Jordy Nelson WR Kansas State

Height: 6-2 5/8 | Weight: 217 | 40-Time: 4.51
Official Bio

Strengths:
Has excellent size and bulk with a solid frame...Very productive...Has soft, reliable hands...Shows terrific body control and ball skills...He's more quick than fast...Can run after the catch a bit...Smart, hard working and tough...Still has a little upside.

Weaknesses:
Does not have great timed speed and lacks a burst...Is not much of a deep threat and won't stretch the field vertically...Is just a slightly above average blocker...Still relatively new to the position & must work on mastering its techniques / nuances.

Notes:
Began his college career as a defensive back and only moved to wide receiver in '05...In high school he won state titles in the 100, 200, 400 and long jump...Had a huge senior campaign and really gave his draft stock a boost...Profiles as more of a possession guy in the NFL but could surprise if he can run better than expected.

Keenan Burton WR Kentucky

Height: 6-0 1/2 | Weight: 201 | 40-Time: 4.46
Official Bio

Strengths:
Adequate height and great bulk...Smooth athlete...An outstanding leaper...Terrific body control and ball skills...Knows how to get open...Quick and elusive..Runs well after the catch...Gives great effort as a blocker...Tough and physical...Hard worker and team leader with excellent intangibles...He might also be able to return kicks.

Weaknesses:
Timed speed is merely average and he isn't overly explosive...Is not really a deep threat...Doesn't get much separation...Drops more balls than he should...Needs to improve his route running...Has some durability issues..Had a sub par senior year.

Notes:
Reportedly has a 43.5-inch vertical..He has missed at least some action in three of the last four seasons with injuries, including most of the 2004 campaign...Outside of blazing speed he would appear to have everything that you look for in terms of physical tools and intangibles..Is not a true #1 wideout but has starting potential.

Yes, I remember reading that. But I thought his Combine was just "ok"? But maybe you're right, he could easily go end of the 2nd.

But the guy I'd want to draft end of the 2nd at WR would be E. Bennett, tell you the truth.

He's maybe not a blazer but he did run a sub 4.50 recently. (I think at the Combine, if I remember correctly.)

Being from Kentucky and a Wildcat fan, I've seen Burton quite a bit over the past few years. The write-up on him is pretty much on target. He's strong and plays smart. Not a burner, but not slow either. He had a very good career, but it could have been a great one if not for several nagging injuries. I would love for us to grab him in the 4th or 5th round. I don't think we'd regret it.

I'd like to see us take a chance on Marcus Monk from Ark. Great size and good speed.

I like Adrian Arrington and anyone else with speed.

Arrington also made some pretty amazing catches this season...I don't know if his hands are consistent, but that guy can really go get the tough ones.

I like Marcus Monk and William Franklin.
Monk because he is huge and has the smarts to go along with that size. To me that translates into someone will undrestand how to get open in the NFL.
Franklin is an underrated prospect who has all the physical tools required to be an NFL wr. He has those Packer WR type characteristics....good speed, nice solid build and tough.

I've seen Nelson play, and I think he will become a good possession type receiver for some team. He has very good hands and runs good routes, the only thing he seems to be missing is that extra gear that most early WR picks have.
