Resign- Kearse, Watkins, Neal, Turner-
Just get the Kearse deal done. We have the cap space and his versatility isn’t easy to replace at this juncture. Watkins and Neal are likely cheap 1 year deals for decent depth. Turner showed enough to be brought back.
Sign- Vernon Butler, KJ Wright, Cornelius Lucas, Michael Badgley-
Butler is a big powerful DT former 1st round pick who will get a cheap 1 year deal to try and reestablish his value. We signed a key Lb from Seattle!…just not the right 1 lol. Wright isn’t the player he once was, but will be a solid vet that knows the system and provide depth behind LVE. The swing tackle market is barren and Lucas might be the best of the bunch. Badgley brought in for kicking competition

1st- Kenyon Green OG Texas A&M- Has everything you want in a guard. Size, strength, nastiness, and above average athleticism. Played every o-line position but C at Texas A&M including a very solid game at LT vs Bama last year. Will have a huge impact on the running game and will do his job in pass pro. If you’re a team that wants to kickstart the run game Green will be the fuel.

2nd- Cameron Thomas DE San Diego St- Big strong and extremely productive DE. Played out of position as a 5 tech 3-4 DE in the 4 point stance most of the time. Was lined up as a 270 lb NT over the C just as often as outside as a pass rusher. Despite playing as an undersized interior player he was very productive and flashed often. Has very heavy hands that he knows how to use like a pro already. Converts speed to power well with a great bull rush. Knows how to get skinny and shoot gaps to get in the backfield consistently. Not a conventional twitched DE wide pass rusher, but has a great frame and skill set to be productive in all aspects.

3rd- Alec Pierce WR Cinci- Might be controversial, but I think Pierce suffers from the condition of WWS…white WR syndrome. 6’3 210 with 4.4 speed and 40” vert + great hands and college production to match. Where do I sign up? Maybe he ends up going earlier than this, but if we can get Pierce in the 3rd I think it would be a big time steal.

*Trade 155 & 167 for a pick 120-125*

4th- Cam Jurgens C Nebraska- 3 year starter at C with elite movement skills and plays with a never ending nasty demeanor. His strength and anchor ability are solid now but could use some nfl weight room time for sure. As a former 240 lb 4 star TE recruit just 4 years ago, it’s fair to think he will continue getting stronger. Could take over for Biadasz sooner rather than later.

4th- Brian Asamoah LB Oklahoma- Undersized LB but plays in the box with an attitude like he belongs. Good tackler that can run sideline to sideline. Smooth athlete that can cover underneath and play zone. Could be an affective sub package LB if kept clean in space.

5th- Percy Butler S Louisiana- Small school safety with desired length and athleticism. Appears to have pretty good 1 on 1 coverage skills and operates well enough in zone. Needs to add weight to his frame and while he is an aggressive tackler, his wrap up technique is poor. Willing special teams gunner.

5th- Austin Allen TE Nebraska- Gigantic (6’8 253) blocking TE with an intriguing blend of athletic ability and good hands. His future is as an in-line TE2 that blocks, but can surprise defenses with his ability to stretch the seam in space. Also a great redzone threat.

Well thought out post.

A refreshing alternative to mock by forty time drafts.

Green is a safe pick.

Cameron Thomas is interesting.
- Could be a value pick that is under-drafted due to playing out of position.

What is the story is Vernon Butler?
- 30th overall pick in 2016.

I reviewed him in a game from 2021.
- He appears to have solid ability and moves well for a guy listed at 330 pounds.
- He has never been a full time starter and has only averaged about 300 snaps played per season.

Im no scout but if I had to grade them the gap between Thomas and Karlaftis would be pretty small. Certainly not the 30 pick gap being projected most places.

Random guess but based on his best season coming after his 5th year option was declined and he was due to become an UFA, perhaps it’s a work ethic/motivation issue? Because he is without a doubt a great athlete for his huge size and can flash at times. His 1 good season earned him a decent payday in Buffalo and seemingly never really earned significant playing time (Buffalo does have a good D line tho). Could be red flag worthy issue, or could be a time to take advantage of a guy finally motivated to save his career. That’s the hard part about being a fan and having 0 inside info on these players

Like Thomas as he can defend the run and offers some rush abilities
