Dallas currently has 64 guys under contract. They have 9 draft picks and usually sign 10 to 15 UDFAs after the draft. If you take the low end of the UDFA guys then we can expect Dallas to sign 4 to 7 more free agents in the next two weeks. Remember the cap is only about the top 51 on the roster so say Anger's contract calls for a $2.5 million cap in the first year then he moves into the top 51 and Nick Ralston contract number drops off the top 51 so really only count $1.675 million against the cap until the season starts when all 53 guys count. Also the cap number increases after the Collins release become official June 2nd so we gain $10 million which would be enough to sign rookies.
Free agents I would hope to sign still:
Ereck Flowers LG (probably won't happen and we sign Will Hernandez instead)
Kyzir White LB (sure I want Bobby Wagner but it is a pipe dream)
Damon Arnette CB (off field problem but hey doesn't who we usually sign)
Arden Key DE (young, potentially high upside)
DeShon Elliott S (upside, Texas kid, young)
Nick Martin OC (Zach brother, good backup)
Julie'n Davenport OT (swing guy)
All of these should be fairly inexpensive.
Draft:
Trade- Cowboys trade Tyron Smith LT, Anthony Brown CB to Chargers for #17 and switch position in 3rd round moving up to #79. Chargers all in this year and need the OT and CB. Dallas gains $10 million in cap for 2022 and $17 million in 2023.
17. Trevor Penning LT Northern Iowa - maybe the best OT in the draft upside
24. Tyler Linderbaum OC Iowa - would be the OC for next ten years
56. Travis Jones DT UConn - very good run stopper and not bad pass rusher, big body
79. Jalen Tolbert WR South Alabama - great routes, great hands, big WR
129. Zyon McCollum CB Sam Houston St - Quinn type guy, long, fast, and ball hawk
155. Michael Clemons DE Texas A&M - good upside, good size, good tackler
167. Bubba Bolden S UMiami -
176. Mike Rose LB Iowa St. -
178. Obinna Eze OT TCU -
193. Pierre Strong RB South Dakota St. -
