I go into the draft knowing I have to have 2 things.

LB and G

From there I try to address some issues that have been long neglected.

At pick 19 the Patriots call looking t o move up to grab Davenport whom is still on the board. Fitzpatrick, James, Edmunds and Roquan are all long gone so we make the trade.

Picks 31 and 63 for pick 19.

Pick 31 - Will Hernandez OG

Pick 50 - Malik Jefferson LB

Pick 63 - Jessie Bates III FS

Pick 81 - Kyzir White - SS

Pick 116 - Nathan Shepherd - DT

Pick 137 - Christian Sam LB

Pick 171 - Deadrin Senat DT

Pick 192 - Phillip Lindsay - RB

Pick 193 - Vyncint Smith - WR

Pick 208 - Brett Toth - OT

Pick 236 - Jacob Pugh - Edge

My main focus after grabbing the Guard and LB that are must haves was finalizing the secondary. Grades are all over the place with the safeties but I really like Jessie Bates III at FS, and Kyzir White at SS. Would be thrilled if we ended up with these 2.

Another focus was adding some pieces to the interior of the defensive line.

I wanted to add the extra dimension of a change of pace back and some depth at LB.

I didn't address WR until late because I believe Dez will play ball and we will see a contract adjustment plus we just added two and there are already too many WR's on the roster.

I think they pick a WR before you do. I also think they pick a TE. and that Earl Thomas is still in play so they wont grab two safties.

I don't want us to draft 10 players. I want us to move up a couple of times in the draft and end up with 6-7 better players that can help us now or at least in the near future. Ten picks aren't making the team. If we were to pick two DTs, one of them is not making the roster (maybe the practice squad). I see the same with safety. In addition, a very late drafted WR won't make the roster either. The practice squad should be filled out with UDFAs in my opinion and not draft picks.

Although the Pats almost never trade up in the 1st round, I like that you actually made the trade fair.
So many in this forum always have the other team miraculously overpaying us for our picks.

Hernandez at 31 would be nice. Bates at 63 too....seeing that he may go in the 30s

Also, I agree wit the other. Zero chance they draft that many players.
They'll trade some of those picks for sure.
Either package and trade back up somewhere, or pull the standard this year's 5th for next years 4th type thing.

12 players is a lot to draft. too diluted of picks. We need quality over quantity.
We do need camp bodies, but those can come in UDFA's.

Well thought out...Nice job. Only gripe I got is the Jesse Bates pick...I don't see them going w/ another free safety. But I can see them going CB...someone like Anthony Averett CB Alabama. in the 3rd.

I think the new DB coach has got a lot of pull already...looking for those long CBs....and they move Lewis to the slot.

Will throw this out there too...another name I can see is Terrell Edmunds SS Virginia Tech...instead of Kyzir White - SS

Think Cam Chancellor. Same school...did all the same things Chancellor did @ VT.

This is usually why I do not do trades in my mocks. Most of the time it is wishful thinking. If I do make a trade, I error on the side of caution and take less in the trade, using the trade chart and points.

It looks good to me and I'm with you about not addressing receiver, but I think the Cowboys will be looking to move up into the second round to get one of the WR's that get's pushed out of the first round.
