Putting Romo back into the game right after he sustained an injury turned out to be a mistake but it's one that nobody immediately knew for sure at that time would surely lead to that game's loss. Hindsight is always 20-20. Perhaps the staff will have learned something about Romo and know enough to not make the same mistake twice. Maybe. Weeden had been doing splendidly before he was removed in favor of re-inserting Romo back into the game. Ignoring the clues proved costly. Obviously, the staff has decided to reconsider their decision and take a different approach from now on. Let's see if it helps.

No doubt this fanbase is spoiled, he plays like an all pro for 6 weeks then he has his "bad" game with a completion percentage above 60% and a 96 QB rating and we get a post like this.
The fact that we lost is not the issue for me. The issue is the character flaws in Jerry, Jason, and Tony reared their ugly head. And I was very vocal about it as soon as it happened. Just when Dallas was once again the talk of the league....the race was on for who was going to get the most credit for our "resurgence" (I think we have only played 8 games, but what does that matter, let's hand out gifts to OL in week 6). The MEDIA set the trap...and Jabba Jaws Jerry obliged by hooking up a headset in the MIDDLE OF A LIVE NFL GAME!!!!!!! And as fate would have it...while he is bumping his gums....Romo takes a shot and is down for the count. Then Jerry's night on Broadway entered it's 2nd act....he get's out his stethoscope and lends his "medical" advice. Now for his 3rd act, he dawns a cape and flies back to the sideline ahead of the paid MEDICAL PERSONNEL to "inform" his head coach Romo is ready "when you need him". Then Willis Reed appears out of the tunnel wearing a football helmet and pads (who knew) and is "ready" to save the day. And the "head coach"....who was doing JUST FINE (2 scoring drives) while the doctor and the patient were on the operating table...politely moves out of the way and gives Superman and Willis the spotlight. Then for his 4th and final act, Coach Jones gives Willis a slap on the helmet and looks him in the eye to provide the "extra motivation" that he would need....especially considering he could barley move (and he is a basketball player:)) So what does this all imply? The "secret sauce" is back! Have some?

The quarterback playing scared who is the top 10 in the league... Imagine if he wasn't playing scared. Any QB is going to protect their body or they are not going to be in the league very long. Romo is fine if he is healthy. Bench him until the BYE and then bring him back. No need to rush him - that is why we have a competent backup in Weeden. Which honestly he would be a low end starter in the league. Having him as a backup is a plus for us.

If you had posted this in the middle of the winning streak then I may give you some credit. But to post this after the back a back contusion and not seeing how he will play for next few weeks is simply an over reaction.

Spot on and well said.....

I agree. It takes courage to give a controversial or contrasting opinion to the sentiment of the majority. It takes fill in the blank to pile on or kick someone when they are down.

You think finding A Winning NFL QB is easy? Look around the league. Most young guys are failing besides Andrew Luck.

We should ride Romo as long as we can.

I hope you are right. If we can rub some monkeys blood on our booboos and keep fighting I know your right.

Not taking anything anywhere. I love people who try to puff up and get real big. Calm down little fella. Read what I said then try again.

If you think Tony was not timid, not as fidgety as a white tail wondering around on opening morning, when he came back into the game limping, we shouldn't even be having a discussion with you. On the very last play of the game he tucked his tail and turned his back to the defense that was still being blocked. He did the Tony dance on that one because he didn't want to get hit again. Understandably so.

I have every play of every game this season, TV feed, and All-22. Tony has been protecting himself in every game. Once again, I agree he should. But there comes a time when you have to step up in the pocket, calm and collective , and deliver a dime. Even when you know you might not get back up...

Lol. You have all the replays. What an insider you are! How ever did you score that exclusive content??

Please direct me to your highly insider analysis of the previous 6 games where that scared and selfish QB played out of this world.

You can hit rewind all you want your take is that of a child pouting after a loss and blaming his parents while kicking the floor

Its too late. Dallas will have too many wins to get one of top QB coming out of this draft.

You never know Wood. The Packers drafted Rodgers with the 24th pick of the 1st round (I believe) after having won the NFC North the season prior. I don't expect that we will see one of the top 2 or 3 QBs in this next draft but it's possible that we could have an opportunity to draft a QB that is great. I think the more important point of the discussion is that the team be willing to take a good QB prospect if the opportunity presents itself, regardless of where they are picking. JMO.

The comments are NOT nuts. We can't risk another season with Romo as our ONLY QB option. We have a good young core developing ... we can't risk everything on a QB with a bad back. Why are we not even trying to find a future QB???

so do you think we should have taken a qb in the first round last year? or do you think we need to take a qb in the first round this year?
last year would have meant no martin, this year means no help to the pass rush.
i'm all for taking a developmental qb. but if you are looking to replace romo you don't need a guy to develope, you need a guy ready to play and thats only likely to come in the first round
romo is here for atleast 3 more years. taking a guy later in the draft is fine, using a top pick for his replacement makes no sence when you look at the needs this team has

Notice how certain people are nowhere to be found when for 6 straight games he's playing lights out.
Then when something goes wrong.....well, you know..

How do I post about a third back injury he has it. Search back my entire history, I've talked about Tony's back since his first injury. I'm a huge Romo fan. This has nothing to do with anything other than finding a replacement for after this year, if he makes it.

I am onboard with finding a replacement for Romo. But it's not that simple. Just look at all the QB's picked? Unless you are willing to invest a 1 or 2nd round pick your chances of getting someone good is really slim (Very few like Brady and Romo).

Romo signed the extension when he had a cyst removed. That's not really a back injury. Yes, it's surgery but not an injury. The true back injury occurred at end of the season after he signed the extension. Posting regrets for somethings you cannot control is pretty pointless.

so it was reported that there was no structural damage. wouldn't this rule out any significant injury that they apparently aren't telling us?

its probably just a deep bruise, and maybe a kidney bruise. they probably wanna see if the kidney isn't swollen by sunday so a big hit won't make it worse.

if its not that, considering we were told no serious damage, what else could it seriously be?

Romo and the rest of the Cowboys won 6 straight before Sunday and only lost for the second time all year. I'm not saying your analysis of his play is wrong, but me personally whatever him and the offense is doing is working since we have our best record since 2007. Let's not rough up the waters too much. Let's focus on the defense more than the offense.

Not angry dude. At all. Not the one complaining still on Thursday about a loss on Monday.

But sure we agree to disagree no worries. Hopefully Sunday night we'll all be discussing a big win.

good point. And if I remember Rogers dropped because some teams perceived him as having slight attitude in pre-draft interviews. In reality he was probably just confident in himself already. Dallas situation is somewhat similar to GB with a proven high end QB already in place and proven offensive philosophy.
