Everyone always has their favorites, but lets forget about the order of importance. To me the 3 key ingredients to a great offense are as follows:

QB, Coach/Scheme, Oline

If you don't have quality in all 3 of these, then you better be great in another area of the offense. Like a Zeke or great pass catchers. OR, if you only have 2, then you need one of those two to be all world. Such as an elite QB.

We all seem to get caught up in one thing or the other when the reality is that you need all 3.

Right now in Dallas we are not good enough in any of these 3 areas. I think its short sighted to focus on one of the three when all three don't measure up.

Preparation
Playcalling
Execution

Bill Parcells made the playoffs with Quincy Carter. QUINCY CARTER. There have been some dominant NFL offenses with game managers at QB and/or middling O-lines. Remember when Trent Green was leading the most unstoppable offense in the NFL? Remember last year when Alex Smith was? Scott Mitchell? Matt Cassel in NE? Marc Bulger? Daunte Culpepper? It's amazing what preparation, aggressive play calling, and ancillary talent can do to an average QB.

What if I told you that aside from their LT, the Rams O-line isn't all that special. In fact, just a few years ago it was one of the worst of the decade. Some of those guys are still there, but the 3 things above changed. Every team has NFL caliber football players. Most are not put in the right position all the time, trained properly, or have the right mindset passed down from their leaders.

I think our OL will recover. We have a lot of talent on the OL. Having a real QB and OC would make the OL seem much better than they are now.

Only the 2003 Patriots allowed fewer points than the 2003 Cowboys. Parcells squeezed as much as he could out of Carter, but the defense had a lot to do with the 10 wins.

Still, they went nowhere in the playoffs because the QB wasn't good enough.

I do not understand how an ex QB as a head coach seems to undervalue the importance of the QB position. Surely JG can see Dak is limited in what he can do. That just makes 0 sense.
