Levity all in fun

The one thing I like about Schottenheimer: his assistants. There are some positive personnel/roster changes as well, but the largest positive deltas between performance in 2024 vs what our potential ceiling in in 2025 are these 3 staff changes:
OL Coach Riley >> Solari: Riley has been one of the most innovative and respected coaches in college football. Solari was a downgrade from Harbin and while he has a solid NFL pedigree— he is old and you have to wonder if the game has simply passed him by.
OC Adams >> McCarthy (Schotty): MM called the shots, Schotty was a placeholder. Mike’s offense was predictable and he struggled to help the offense in terms of consistency in the running game and in the RZ. Adams is a OL wiz and is bringing some youth, energy, and innovation to an offense in desperate need of a jump start. Pair him with Riley, and the scheme should be solid. The X factor is Schotty calling plays— he has been a midling OC, but he is an unknown asset in terms of HC.
Eberflus/Whitecotton >> Zimmer: While Eberflus struggled as a HC, his performance as a DC is what got him promoted. His scheme has produced, and his specialty is at one of our weakest positions: LBer. Zimmer on the other hand had to be talked out of retirement and admitted he didn’t handle the transition from Quinn well. Add in Whitecotton who has earned respect for his work in NY along the DL, and another weak position group should see some improvement under his tutelage.
Bottom line: Our coaching staff is younger, hungrier, and more relevant to today’s game. The additions of these coaches is the thing I am most positive about the 2025 Cowboys.
Long way to go to catch Philly, but these coaches are great additions IMO.
There are 32 teams in the league. If we were taking turns, we would definitely be due.Good optics, Hawkeye...
2023 - Eagles struggled with Offensive and Defensive Coordinators - early playoff exit
2024 - Eagles replaced them with Kellen Moore and Vic Fangio - won a Super Bowl
Eagles made big time adjustments with the x's and o's. Sort of a ra-ra guy as HC, but the main constant in their coaching staff.
Perhaps it's our turn?
Is hope a strategy? There are 32 teams in the league. If we were taking tIurns, we would definitely be do.
For GM Jethro it is.Is hope a strategy?![]()
I think Jerry prefers wishing upon a star.Is hope a strategy?![]()
I think Shotty did a very good and unbiased job with hiring his staff. There are some positive personnel/roster changes as well, but the largest positive deltas between performance in 2024 vs what our potential ceiling in in 2025 are these 3 staff changes:

A new staff takes time to make an impact. I doubt we are going to see a dramatic impact in year one.I think Shotty did a very good and unbiased job with hiring his staff.
I dont know if he hired Eberflus though, so not sure about him as DC.
Then saying he wants to be tough and run more, which is why he got booker in draft.
That all make me think this could produce a different cowboys team than in the past.
It is something we just have to wait and see, but the coaches are the main reason I have
some hope for the coming season.
Time will tell with MM. Yes the perception is he under performed in the playoffs, with 3 12-4 season. However, maybe he actually overachieved in the regular season and we were more like an 9-7 team.I was never a fan of the McCarthy hire. His style of coaching can only take a team so far. He benefitted greatly by having a great QB in Green Bay. He would have a far different reputation otherwise.
The coaching staff seems improved. There has been some very good in depth articles about Schott the past few months, and I'm more encouraged now than when he was hired.
That said, coaching has not been the problem here. How many coaches does Dallas have to go through before everyone realizes this? The constant has of course been the amateur GM, and the deeply flawed roster he has presented his coaching staffs. No coach on the planet is taking this team to the Super-Bowl.

He's one of the best.Great post
I always find it amusing how people forget Jerry's McCarthy hiring press conference citing this exact reason for the McFraud hire.Mike was brought in for one reason: to win in the postseason.
He failed.
People will point to three 12 win seasons, but overall, there were issues he tolerated, and problems he never fixed, so IMO, his tenure here should be judged on whether or not he improved us in the key area he was brought in to address: and he didn’t
Your first paragraph totally describes what McCarthy was and is as a coach. Great job.I was never a fan of the McCarthy hire. His style of coaching can only take a team so far. He benefitted greatly by having a great QB in Green Bay. He would have a far different reputation otherwise.

You don't walk around moping because kind of like Jerry you only bought one ticket .I expect to win the lottery, but if I don't I don't walk around moping with a stick up my butt. Can't win it, without buying a ticket, at least a have a chance. I don't yell and scream, burn my ticket, say...,I'm never gonna buy y another one, but I expect to win it anyway. I don't go from zero to sixty anytime someone else buys a ticket. Don't like that one? Lol!

Good point. It's impossible to judge a coach without also judging the roster. An 8-8 coach is a genius if he had an 0-16 roster, but he's a failure if he had a 16-0 roster.Time will tell with MM. Yes the perception is he under performed in the playoffs, with 3 12-4 season. However, maybe he actually overachieved in the regular season and we were more like an 9-7 team.
Yes my brother a coach that can't get you out of the top five in penalties is definitely not helping you come play off time when each mistake is magnified tenfold against the best teamsSuch a good point on the penalties. Definitely a consistent issue that continually dogged this team
