1. Can Khalil Mack put his hand in the ground and convert to DE or is he more along the lines of Jamie Collins from last year and needs to be in a 3-4?

2. Can Mosley fit in our defensive scheme because he seems to be one of the safest first round picks this year?

3. Would you be willing to move up to say 6-10 for Anthony Barr if he were to slide?

I know we have 5 months til draft day but other than when Lee was healthy this linebacker core ticked me off with their poor play this season and definite upgrades are needed to compete with Philly next year.

No to trading up for anybody, we need to stay put or trade down to get extra picks.

Mosley would be a good pick, Hageman or another DL prospect would be good.

LB and DL are the most important in fixing this year. Getting a FS like Tre Boston in the 3rd/4th round would be good. Love to have Boston at FS and Wilcox at SS for the next 10 years.

Mosley, Lee and Carter with Durant, Holloman and Lemon as back ups would be nice.

OT or OG would be good as well. James Hurst OT can be had in the 5th as he broke hits leg in the Bowl game.

Kareem Martin DE would be a steal in the 4th/5th round.

First of all, EXCELLENT post Questfor6. These are exactly the type of analytical, well-thought out discussions I come here for.

1. Mack is somewhat in the mold of Collins, but significantly better IMO. He can play in a 3-4 at OLB for sure, but I think he can easily play either WOLB or SOLB in our scheme. Here's my comparison for Khalil Mack.... Clay Matthews. I would absolutely love to make him a blitz oriented OLB and yes, put his hand on the ground some in nickel situations. I actually may like Mack more than Barr, because I think he's better in non-pass rush situations while having 90% of Barr's rush/blitz ability.

2. Yes, Mosley could fit our scheme as either a WOLB or MLB. I need to study him more, but from what I can tell, he's not really "twichy" enough for me as a mid-1st round WOLB. He's got Sean Lee-esque read-and-react skills and pass coverage ability though. I'll make it a priority to check him out more over the weekend, but my thoughts at this moment are that with Carter and Holloman on the roster, I'd be surprised if that represents the best value.

3. I would be skeptical about trading up for any of these LB's. With the DL in such rough shape and picks at a premium, it would be a tough pill to swallow. But as you could probably tell from my response thus far, if I were to go up for one of these guys, it would be Mack. I would not give up our #1 and #3 for him, however.

1. Yes on Mack at DE. He is 6-3, 248 which is big enough at Weak-Side LB in a Kiffin or Seattle type scheme.

2. He can definitely fit, but 4-3 LB is not really a premium position per se. The LBs will always be limited is the DL is not really good.

3. No. Moving up is rarely a good option. It's definitely not a good option for a team with as many needs as the Cowboys. Moving up should be done by teams that are already borderline Super Bowl quality and just need 1 player to get them over the hump.

How about attaochu? guy looks studly ..

Christian Jones looks like an athlete at LB too. His sack numbers aren't nearly as impressive as Jeremiah Attaochu's though

Attaochu's numbers are a little skewed because he got 1/3 of his sacks against Georgia's freshman QB in his first start. He still looks the part though, reminds me of Mercilus from a couple of years ago.
