Xavier Legette Invest in a tougher 1st round WR. Cooper was soft against playoff competition. Cooks and Gallop proved that are not capable of that role.
WR South Carolina

56.
DAL

Zach Frazier Biadz won't be resigned. Zach Frazier is incredibly strong at Center.
OC West Virginia

87.
DAL

Audric Estime RB - tough vibe with this guy. Pollack is going to walk in FA.
RB Notre Dame

FA - look for 2 DL. Chris Jones DT3 and Christian Wilkins DT 1
MLB Bobby Wagner
Give Ceedee and Micha their 10 years long-term deals

Don't like the first round pick of a WR and I am not sure Legette would be BPA there.

And I think 87 might be a bit rich for Estime.

And on a team that has such issues at LB and DT, I am not sure you can go 3 offensive players in this draft right off the bat.

The board would have to be washed and Legette still there for that pick.

Zach Frazier is my 4th center, but it's early he could rise. An improvement over Bidasz for sure

I'm in minority but I'm not sold on a RB before 5th comp pick. I'd be more interested in Henry or Barkley in FA

Legette would be a monster in our offense.

Like the players, but IMO we need to go all in on Defense if the board works out for us. Gave up like 28 PPG against playoff caliber teams this year.

Obviously holes on O to address as well so hoping we can help patch some of those in FA.

Great.

I don’t think the value is there taking him at 24. I think there will be better players there at positions of real need.

Yes! We lead the league in scoring but can’t stop the run. Let’s go get more offense! If they score 48, we’ll score 49! Yeehaw!!!

Use PFF and do a simulator for who is there. I'm not drafting a safety as BPA. You can't just draft D because you of need. Pick 3 scrubs on D that will have little impact like Mazi and what have you accomplished.
FA is focused on D at the bottom. I want them to revamp the middle of the D with those players.

Since Harper was traded, Dallas has not returned to the NFC game. When a playoff D shuts down your WR1, you need a physical WR that has 1st round caliber. Legette will rise.
FA means free agency.
FA - look for 2 DL. Chris Jones DT3 and Christian Wilkins DT 1
MLB Bobby Wagner
Give Ceedee and Micha their 10 years long-term deals

Defense wins championships. If you can’t stop the run , it doesn’t matter who your # 1 wr might be. The offense isn’t the problem.

In just looking at the PFF Big Board for 2024, you took Legette at 24 and he's their 43rd ranked player. That's not great value using PFF so I would assume that there were players at positions we could use help - OT, OG/C, DT, LB that were likely rated higher.

I like Frazier. We could use OL help as I noted above. They have Frazier at 63, which is pretty in line with you taking him at 56.

You took Estime at 87 and he's the PFF 109th guy. So a bit of an overreach there.

And then your FAs?

Zero chance they sign Jones. They haven't signed a high priced FA in years. They aren't about to start now. Wilkins? LOL, he's also going to be a high priced guy. You think the Cowboys are gonna sign two of the most expensive DTs on the open market? Hahaha. Why stop there? Maybe sign Budda Baker for big bucks too.

Wagner? Now that one might be more feasible.

A big board does not determine who picks at need and value.

No but it's highly unlikely that when you did your PFF mock, there was no one ranked higher than Legette that also would have filled a need.
It was profootball network. Try it. See who is there

OK. Legette is their 36 rated player.

When I did their mock, here who was available at 24 at what we could say are positions of need:

19th - Robinson, Edge, PSU
21st - Fuaga, OT, Oregon St
22nd - Trotter, LB, Clemson
27th - Fautanu, OG, UW
31st - Suamataia, OT, BYU
35th - Barton, OG/C, Duke

Legette wasn't even the best WR on the board:

23rd - Thomas, WR, LSU
25th - Mitchell, WR, Texas

So here's what I got taking BPA while mindful of position:

24 - Fuaga, OT, Oregon State (21st player on their board)
56 - Murphy, DT, Texas (49th player on their board)
87 - Cooper, LB, A&M (62nd player on their board)

PFN mocks tend to be wack. There's little chance Cooper is there in the 3rd round.

The simulations are randomized and the defensive players there do not move the needle. LB is a huge need but no player is there worth a 1st rounder.

LSU Thomas is a better receiver and off the board in most simulations but I think you have these two as your best choices. Thomas is ideal as a deep threat and red zone which will make a huge difference in the playoffs.

OT Fuaga is not usually there and will likely be top 15. He is awesome but only a worthy pick if you plan to keep your 1st round pick Tyler at OG. I don’t think you do that.

Cap space plays into this. You are going to cut Gallop. Do you need yr 1st round picks at OG and pay pro bowl money there? 2nd or 3rd round can be a +starter.

The latest rumors on Tyler Smith was that the Cowboys preferred to leave him at LG. In fact, this year, instead of moving him outside when Tyron got hurt like they did last year, they left him inside and played Edoga.

You take an OT over a WR at 1 every day of the week (unless of course, the unthinkable happens and Harrison somehow falls or Nabers falls).
