Defense wins championships. If you can’t stop the run , it doesn’t matter who your # 1 wr might be. The offense isn’t the problem.
Sure. But that doesn't mean reaching for a defense player that will not impact the defense in the playoffs is the answer in the draft

I don't know how we pass on Thomas if he's there at #24 but it'd be a hard choice if an OT is also still on the board. I think OL may be BPA at #24 and #56 too, and I know we need DT and LB help, but I hate, hate, HATE reaching for need when there are better, more impactful players available. There's not a MLB or DT I can see selecting at 24 and trading down because we need a player at a certain position is dumb. I really like Patrick Paul and Jackson Powers-Johnson if they're still around at 56, and can see a scenario where we take Thomas or Coleman in the first and the C or OT in round two. Kris Jenkins or Cooper at 56 makes sense too, but I really don't want another safety playing MLB. It's just, nothing good ever happens when you draft for need or trade away from good players because they aren't on your short list of need.

100%. Especially considering you could make a strong case for a LOT of positions. No need to reach for what the team feels like a need.

In relation to DT - check out Newton from ILL…I’d take him at 24 in a heartbeat. DJ also just had the kid from UT going top 20 which was surprising.

I don't mind the idea of drafting O and using FA to address defense.

But you aren't getting Wilkins and Jones lol. It's unlikely that either of them even becomes FA.

Exactly right. We did that last year and landed Mazi Smith. We need to stop just letting draft fall where it might and start being more aggressive and targeting players we know can help us. Sometimes that means moving up. We’ve been gun shy since the Claiborne fiasco.

Fingers crossed Mazi takes a jump in year 2, but you usually avoid those kind of missed when you take the best player instead of need.

I’m just going to add that this 6’3 227 WR runs 4.29

It shows up in the tape.

24.
DAL

Xavier Legette Invest in a tougher 1st round WR. Cooper was soft against playoff competition. Cooks and Gallop proved that are not capable of that role.
WR South Carolina

56.
DAL

Zach Frazier Biadz won't be resigned. Zach Frazier is incredibly strong at Center.
OC West Virginia

87.
DAL

Audric Estime RB - tough vibe with this guy. Pollack is going to walk in FA.
RB Notre Dame

FA - look for 2 DL. Chris Jones DT3 and Christian Wilkins DT 1
MLB Bobby Wagner
Give Ceedee and Micha their 10 years long-term deals
I can live with all this except WR at 24. I'm leaning toward CB or S with 24.....yes Diggs will be back but who are you starting on the other side? As good as Bland is, he struggles with speedy receivers.

Just watched a few clips of Frazier, Powers-Johnson and Estime a couple of days ago........so 56 and 87 are home runs for me. Audic Estime is exactly what we need. A tough and powerful runner, hard to tackle.

24 - Fuaga, OT, Oregon State (21st player on their board)
56 - Murphy, DT, Texas (49th player on their board)
87 - Cooper, LB, A&M (62nd player on their board)
Love 24 and 87
Don't see them drafting DT this high after the 1st on Smith last year. I'd rather go CB or S........probably need a new starter at both positions

The latest rumors on Tyler Smith was that the Cowboys preferred to leave him at LG. In fact, this year, instead of moving him outside when Tyron got hurt like they did last year, they left him inside and played Edoga.

You take an OT over a WR at 1 every day of the week (unless of course, the unthinkable happens and Harrison somehow falls or Nabers falls).
I think that for last season that is understandable. Will Tyler want to play LT and make more money? Certainly and he is capable. I don't think that is the plan for his future but it allows a young player to focus on one position that is new.

Pretty sure Tolbert replaces Gallup......he's going into his 3rd year. He's ready......
Yeah but he is a 4th or 5th receiver. Trust me Xavier Legette will rise but draft time to solidly in the mid-late first round with his Draft day performance and 4.29 speed

OK. Legette is their 36 rated player.

When I did their mock, here who was available at 24 at what we could say are positions of need:

19th - Robinson, Edge, PSU
21st - Fuaga, OT, Oregon St
22nd - Trotter, LB, Clemson
27th - Fautanu, OG, UW
31st - Suamataia, OT, BYU
35th - Barton, OG/C, Duke

Legette wasn't even the best WR on the board:

23rd - Thomas, WR, LSU
25th - Mitchell, WR, Texas

So here's what I got taking BPA while mindful of position:

24 - Fuaga, OT, Oregon State (21st player on their board)
56 - Murphy, DT, Texas (49th player on their board)
87 - Cooper, LB, A&M (62nd player on their board)

PFN mocks tend to be wack. There's little chance Cooper is there in the 3rd round.
24 - Fuaga OT - this would be a great pick. He won't get out of the top 15.

Murphy DT 56 and Cooper 87 LB are JAGs that don't move the needle on the D.

Cooper is an elite player. Frankly, I'd be surprised he isn't gone by the 2nd round.

IDK- when you say elite, I think top 15 1st rounder. Cooper is very similar to Overshown. 6’3 230 is light. Dallas wants 6’4-6’5 and 250 MLB to clog passing lanes and tackle drive RBs.

Give me a 6’1” 240 run stopping bulldog at MLB. Of course they hard to find.
