Ware and Peppers are like Quinn
Ware and Peppers are 2 different players. One can cover and the other doesn't.
If it;s freak athleticism that's what he has in common but you are comparing him to 2 different players now.
Our issue is not OLB on defense. It's the d-line and our secondary.
You're just going to scrap Spencer because of one season where the whole defense underperformed?
Just got rid of a 1st round pick that last season was a beast?
Why for Quinn who we don't even know can cover yet and has played against 2nd tier schools in college?
Von Miller is the better prospect anyways if we're going to go this route.
I like Quinn and I also said he's a player. But even with 2 Demarcus Wares on the field for us, which he is not Demarcus, our defense still has these issues.
What's the overall plan with Quinn if we draft him other than gocking over physical attributes?
If Quinn gets drafted as a 3-4 OLB he is still a project and would not even beat Spencer right now for playing time. He would not have an immediate impact on this defense.
At #9 we need a player that would immediately impact out starting line-up.
Right now we Have Rat and Bowen on the d-line, the rest of the rotation is on the market right now.
Marcel Dareus is as pro ready a prospect as there is. He would not be a project and he has not even hit his ceiling since he was a junior this year.
He has already played against the top talent in college and dominated.
He's good to go whether you want him as a NT or DE in the 3-4. He will have an immediate impact on the starting lineup.
This interest in taking Robert Quinn with the 9th pick from a few posters is not big picture for the defense. It's very individualistic without an ultimate defensive plan.
Quinn is a nice player to have if you need another OLB and have at least a year to develoip in a totally different position and system than he knows.
Not good for us at #9, I'm sorry.
I know a lot about Quinn, even put material up on him. Like him too, but he;s not the player we need or will impact this defense right away.
Rather have Von Miller and he's not the pick either.
Corner or d-line at #9 and that's only if Peterson is there, which he won't be.
OLB is redundant at this point when we have so many more glaring needs.
I'm not positive about sitting a #9th overall pick for 75% of our defensive snaps and that's what Quinn represents his first season as a 3-4 OLB.
I'm not at all positive of dumping a first round pick who played at a very impactful level just one season ago to dump a 9th overall pick in that same spot.
We have other needs. Von Miller and Robert Quinn are players but are not what we need.
Especially when we have a need and the better players available at the top of this draft are dominant players within that need.
Peterson, Fairley and Dareus just make too much sense. Peterson and Fairley won't be there at #9 and Dareus may not be either.
All 3 of those players are pro ready and studs at their respective positions.
