....a streak to Ogletree???

Has JG given an answer as to why on earth you would make that call? Even if succesful you leave the Giants over a minute and most of there timeouts to hit a fg? Predictably they fail with a fourth and one and since Felix the *****cat is your running back no threat of a run to keep the Giants honest.

DUMB.

Its football 101. Get the damn first down in that situation! Throwing a homerun shot to Bum Ogletree is just mind blowing. They cant cover Jason Witten, you need 1 yard, so naturally the call is throwing it at o-tree.

Romo does that all the time on 3rd and short. Checks out for the over the top pass.

So it was Romo's fault?

Oh gawd, please tell me he didn't check out on that call. PLEASE. I already have a low opinion of him and that would solidify my feeling the guy's football intelligence is way overrated.

You give the ball to the fullback and get the first down, tell Romo NOT to check out of the play.

That's when I knew we were screwed. That is such a low percentage play for this passing game. Romo throwing it down the sidelines is not a strength...especially if it's to Ogletree or Dez. Miles is the only guy he trusts downfield

Really don't know why Romo went for that...you're asking for too many things to go right:

1. WR to run his route and beat the DB
2. Romo to make the perfect throw
3. Protecton
4. Overall timing

It's not a call for the fly...that's one pattern by one guy...other WRs running other routes, but that's Tony's MO and his decision to immediately throw deep. He liked the man coverage and made the risky decision without thinking of the situation...nothing knew there.

Yep. We don't know what truly happened there. Romo definitely was heard killing a play. Whoever was responsible, it was a boneheaded move. Exactly the sort of play we've come to expect from the Garrett-Romo duo in clutch situations, unfortunately.

theogt is right. romo checked out of the original play. ogletree shifts for the new play and the rest is history. you can see the replay on kly's link.

Why was it even one of the options? Its not like Romo called that play, it was one of the two he was given.

Perhaps, but Garrett has to give him the option to check out, correct? He could have told him to just run the stupid ball. Even if that play was successful, it would have left a lot of time on the clock for the Giants.

Do they know that you don't always have to pass?

Run a draw on final play vs ravens?
Run a draw on 2nd and 1 or 3rd and 1?

Hated those play calls

I don't have any problem with a pass there. I do have a problem with a go route to Ogletree. A high percentage pass would have been just fine.

Worse still they have ALL of there timeouts....no reason to not run the ball once or at least throw a high percentage short pass to Witten or Phillips???

That's my problem as well. Especially when Witten is turning in a career performance and torching the Giant LBs/Safeties.

who knows. all i know is witten and austin were on fire in the 2nd half but on a crucial 3rd down and short we go to kevin ogletree. you can't make this stuff up.

They should have run. The percentages were with us since the ground game gave us 1.1 ypc
