Going against 3WR, I'd like the pass rush and coverage this group would provide.

4 lineman, Ware - RE, Crawford - RDT, Ratliff - LDT, Hamilton - LE

2 LB, Lee, spy the QB and Wilber (Send him on the blitz)

5 DB's Carr - LCB, Claiborne - RCB, Johnson - SS, Scandrick - FS and Jenkins - Nickel CB

If the front four get to be the kind of players we all expect with the shiny new toy syndrome we have right now, it could be one of the most fearsome pass rushes in the NFL next year.

Any changes you'd make?

The opposite end of Ware is still Spencer's job to lose, we won't see the other guys unless he's being spelled imo. I also think that having Wilber in the middle totally limits what this defense can do if he's just going to blitz all the time, Carter makes a lot more sense because he should have better coverage abilities. We also won't generally go with only one safety on the field, especially if it's a rookie 4th rounder considering the complexity of our defense, look for Sensy or Poole to be on often to make calls.

I like this in theory, but I think this package overall is more suited for a couple of plays a game rather than the nickel package all the time.

Its amazing how fast these rookies are being anointed and still havn't put a foot on the field yet.

If Carter, a second round inside linebacker with speed, can't break nickel packages in his second season then you can pretty much declare him done.

I'm just calling this a pass rush special group, only used for a couple of plays a game. I think Ware and Ratliff could command double teams, and crawford and hamilton will be underestimated.

I'm just having fun by putting as many pass rush specialists on the field as possible, in obvious passing situations.

Don't worry, I'm not anointing anyone.

nickel imho

crawford, hatcher, ratliff, ware
lee, carter
mo, carr, jenk, scandrick
sensabaugh

this puts your best 11 on the field and makes it hard to beat ANY DB one on one in coverage.

This. With Crawford being a maybe.

Spencer isn't losing his job but you probably do need to both spell him and plan playing time for Crawford. Best way may well be nickel.

I like that JT.

I'm not sure Crawford is going to be out there in place of Spencer.

You mean the undrafted ones in particular?

I agree that Adrian Hamilton looks like a man among boys in the highlight videos, but many of those guys looked like glorified high school tackles. Like they mentioned on Lunch Break this week, it wasn't all that long ago that Junior Glymph was making back up OL look silly in preseason games. When you go up against starting NFL talent, it's not going to look so easy.

Carter was drafted to play WILB. He is probably your 3 down LB IMO and certainly your main nickel LB. He'll share some snaps with someone though.

I bet he's starting game one.

Don't expect to see Carter starting early in the season. Remember he didn't get on field until Nov and then played on ST only. Would expect in the offseason that he spending lot of time in weight conditioning program and also studying the defensive (hopefully with Lee) strategy. If FA Connor is familiar/quickly grasps Ryan's defense, he'll probably start with Carter getting a lot of time as season progresses. Doesn't mean Carter a bust cause he doesn't start right away; just means we take advantage of Connor w/o rushing Carter. OTOH, if Carter turns out to be a work alholic like Carter, maybe he does start right away.

I like the kid Hamilton too, but I don't see him getting much playing time next year. Same goes for Crawford and Wilbur with that being said

4 D-line Ware (Crawford or Coleman) Ratliff Hatcher
2 Line Backers Lee and Spencer
5 D-backs Claiborne,Carr,Scandrick(slot corner) Jenkins at FS and Sensabaugh at SS

If Spencer isn't rushing the passer then it's going to be Butler, not some rookie nobody with no pass rush moves.

Well, he is a rookie. And he is basically a nobody at this point. But no pass rush moves?

He's the kind of guy that, if you gave him 1000 snaps, he'd almost assuredly get double digit sacks as a rookie. But he'll probably blow a ton of assignments and stink to high heaven against the run too.
