This is the standard Mike Zimmer defensive philosophy. The corners are always way off. The safeties are deep. Everyone always seems to be moving laterally or backwards. There is no attacking the line. The whole purpose is to not give up the big chunk plays and hope they make a mistake at some point along the way but teams that can effectively run the ball just run over you all day.

Did Diggs play yesterday? I ask because he was invisible.
I'm really concerned about him. I saw him around the play several times but the guy seems either afraid or unwilling to really make contact. Teams have been running to his side with great effectiveness this year. That may not be all his fault but at some point he needs to actually tackle. He's not exactly Deion Sanders out there who can make a living off of just removing whatever receiver he is on from the game.

exactly! In fact, isn't this the theme with many others on D?

Zim isn't a fit, the players we have don't play the right way, and we lack the talent. Other than that...

Diggs and Carson both playing far off and Diggs had to go around Carson to get to his man. I'll never understand why in that situation if you're playing man coverage you don't play press. If they beat you long I can deal with that. If the WR makes runs a great route and beats you I can deal with that too. At least in those situations you give your pass rush an extra half second to a second to get home. To give up with simple underneath throw on 3rd down is just unacceptable, and if Diggs gets his man covered, Carsons man is also wide open for an easy completion.

You can almost see it in Jackson right after he motions the receiver. He resets, looks back over at the bunch side, almost like he is in disbelief that the Cowboys are giving him this easy throw.

We will have to wait on the all 22 tape to come out but im also curious where the the 11th man on the field was, because for some reason he was so deep that he wasn't even in the shot on the broadcast.

What in the heck was that play call? Why on earth would you give 10 yards of cushion to the WR when they need 5 and a first down closes any door to a win?

This is a joke. This FO is a joke, this coaching staff is a joke, and Jerry lets not even start on him.
It was a pick route. The proper way to handle that would have been for Diggs to take the receiver crossing to the inside, and the other defender to follow the eventual receiver. They completely got played.

This has Mike Zimmer written all over it.

More “bend but don’t break” bullcrap.

Dude literally said in the off season too “we are gonna have less turnovers this year”

Thanks Mike. Turning over the football is the second most important thing a defense can do (behind not allow points).

:hammer: .....Zimmer's soft zone schemes are pathetic...and he calls them @ the worst times.

That's what we've been taught to do all these years, I swear we're one of the only teams to blitz or it be 3rd and short and we're playing off coverage as if everyone is going to run 9 routes

Diggs sux and has the worst contract in football.
He’s not a cover guy - he can’t hit he can’t tackle - you can’t even corner blitz him.
And he’s a compete liability vs the run.
That final play - he’s thinking “ bait “ - except he was too slow off the break.

Carson needs to be replaced Thurs by Booth and if Diggs jumps that route at the end of the game that’s a pick 6 .

I feel this has been going on for years now. Go back and watch the GB playoff game. We played very soft and allowed their receivers free release and to easily find the spots for easy pitch and catch. So many 3rd downs, we are playing way off and allows an easy conversion.
