3rd and below still unsigned?

How is it that our 3rd and 4th round picks are still unsigned? Have we not made them an offer or do they think they are supposed to get 1st rnd money? Does anyone know? They are fairly low picks. You'd think they'd be happy just to play in the NFL and not turn their nose at the money offered.

6 of the 12 picks signed on Friday. That wasn't good enough huh?

Stephen will get them signed. I highly doubt the players in question think they will get 1st round money.

I think the pay is commensurate with your draft position....is that correct?

We haven't had a holdout of any rookie in years, but there's always someone who panics about them getting in on time.

All we are waiting for is slotting. Once picks above and below get signed, Stephen Jones will have enough to work with. It is just about getting the signing bonuses equitable. No one is "turning their nose up" at the money. They all should know exactly what they should expect. These were all players who went either where they were supposed to go or even higher. It is not that big of a deal.

I think you're getting persniketty for no reason. It's not a knock on the organization. I'm wondering why the draftees haven't signed yet? There has to have been offers already and the amount is pretty much set, right? So why haven't they signed? Are they trying to negotiate for more money or what? Yes I know that the draftees are almost always signed by camp but we normally have a couple of 1st / 2nd rndr's holding out a day or two but we don't have that this year so what is the holdup? If there is already an offer on the table then they should have signed it.

I bow to this question. I am humbled in its presence.

Wow Hos, did you not have your coffee this morning? Sorry if my simple question got you so riled up. I'll go back to my quiet hole and keep my questions to myself. Would that be better?

Every year since Mr. Jones has owned the team, he waits to the last min to sign the picks....especially the highest drafted players.

Why?

Speculation: makes sure they do not get injured before camp and Mr. Jones has lost his bonus money.......it allows other teams to set the market for the draft position.

Our guys will all be signed before the 1st practice imho.....based on past history.

Asks the guy who clearly took offense at nothing.

The Cowboys didn't sign anyone until Friday. At which time they signed 50% of their picks. 6 of the 12. The NFL Offices are not open on Saturday and Sunday. Therefore no contracts can be announced until today. The rooster barely crows and you're worried that the other 6, especially the top few aren't signed?

For the love of Pete, why? Forgive me for not seeing the point in the question. Forgive me for originally responding with a question. Forgive me for being tired of every time I don't applaud like a toy monkey with cymbals people think I am being persnickety.

I thought perhaps you didn't know about the 6 who did sign. Or that maybe you were unaware that we usually sign the lowest picks first and the highest picks last. Or that you think there weren't negotiations in progress with the other 6.

It has nothing to do with the question you asked. I wasn't trying to be persnickety. I just think the timing of the question is questionable. By days end more picks will be signed. Maybe all of them. We don't know. But to ask this early on a Monday morning as if the team is unaware of the dire approaching deadlines just seemed unreal to me.

Got my panties all bunched up and that makes me persnickety.

Yeah, I was all flummoxed when I found out as I read this post. I especially hurt for that one player we have. I forget his name. The one with letters in it. He wears that one number and plays that position where you kick at the ball. I feel bad for that guy.

Have we not made them an offer

Probably not. Or we just made them an offer last Friday.

Remember, there are two variables in play. One is the money available in our rookie pool, and the other is the contract values of the players drafted around the same picks. Agents will want the team to use every dollar available in its rookie pool. As our other picks sign, the remaining draftees' agents will know how much is left to divide among the unsigned draftees. And until the players drafted a few spots above and below each of our picks are signed, the "slotting" of each pick is still fluctuating or capable of fluctuating.

We got half of our picks signed in one day. I'd expect the other six to follow suit fairly quickly, but it's not like they all just accept the first offer the team makes.

Thank you. That explains things nicely. I didn't realize that we most likely haven't made an offer yet. THAT was my question (even if I didn't make it clear). I appreciate the response.

Is this your first season following the Cowboys/NFL? Happens all the time. Always a cat and mouse game with the organizations/players and agents.
