I was mortified, and the Giants fans were laughing.

There we sat, moments before kickoff, and on came the Cowboys' announcer to give us instructions on what to do on third down.

He carefully explained the new graphic that would be displayed on all third downs. Then, they showed it...."3RD DOWN, 3RD DOWN, 3RD DOWN"....

Then he said something to the effect, "Cowboys fans, when you see this displayed on the video board, that means you need to stand up and get loud so your team can hear you! Let's make this the best home field advantage in the league!"

I kid you not.

I buried my head in my hands, said a few choice words under my breath, and apologized to Tex and Landry.

And to think, Jerry was for this.

Forgot to add, an e-mail was sent to all season ticket holders last week to the same effect.

That had to feel like your mom embarrassing you in front of your friends.

Dallas...the only place where proper football fandom has to be explained.

WOW! I went to the Rams game last year, and could not believe how quiet it was (first game ever to a game). They had a section where the Rams fans seemed louder than all the Cowboys fans! I just don't understand going to a game and NOT wanting to cheer your butt off!

wait wait wait? this is not accecptable, it does not need to be explained.....

You turn in a rabid beast on 3rd down as fans

my goodness on 3rd downs from my house far away from texas i rip my shirt off foam at the mouth pull my pants down and yell "BRING IT.....NO ONE PASSES THROUGH THIS LINE, GET THE STRETCHER WE'RE TAKING YOU OUT AND I DON'T MEAN ON A DATE BWOY!!!!!!!" all this while banging on a table or the floor screaming like i've naturally lost my mind.....

smh.....i don't understand the game today

I like how here on the forums every talks about how loud they are at games, but then at games people complain about it not being loud enough.

I was about to post the same thing. It's funny how people complain that the fans in Cowboys stadium are pathetic because they are too quiet and then when the team makes an effort to fix that problem, the team is pathetic for doing it.

This really was imbecilic of the Cowboys. There are little tricks that you can do to get crowd-noise going artificially without insulting your fanbase in the process. When I was at the Ravens game they showed some of the Orioles that were at the game when the Cowboys were working out of their own endzone. Same thing for a big late 3rd down when they showed (injured) Terrell Suggs on the sidelines.

You know it is pretty sad. I was our section General. Screaming for ppl to stand the hell up n scream. 3rd down I'd turn around and ppl were just sitting. I was yelling at the top of my lungs "GET THE **** UP AND MAKE SOME NOISE!!! LETS GOOOOOOOOOO" Thankfully I got a good following early on haha. Sad to not see the passion I exude in other fans but that's our home crowd.

What you should be embarressed about is that it came to this. Instructions on how to act at a football game is the fans fault.

I don't understand the problem. It's embarassing, but pointing out that your friend's got his fly down is embarassing too.

That doesn't mean it wasn't necessary.

Did it work?

What does the atmosphere seam like there? I've heard that it feels more like a museum than a football game. Maybe it is more psychological as to why the fans don't get loud enough.

This ^^^^^

And 99.9% haven't stepped a foot inside that stadium to cheer or support their favorite football team and have no room to talk anyhow

I don't need to attend any games because I a one of those fans that rather watch the game instead of screaming and hollering. It's not my thing.

There was definitely some kind of changes that Cowboys Stadium tried to make this weekend, and all of them failed. The PA announcer was trying to take a page out of the NBA PA guys by serving as a vocal cheerleader. Then the random hip-hop music being played after every change of possession that didn't have anything to do with the game or the flow of it.

The reason they had to do it is because a lot if fans think they are above cheering. They earned the scolding if you ask me.

I actually thought the game sounded a little louder than usual, especially considering the team sucked all the reason to cheer out of the stadium early.

I have absolutely no problem with it.

You have a dumb fanbase and a crap homefield "advantage". I hope they don't stop doing it.
